Hey guys , I was thinking to work UPS in enfield ct it's a dedicated OTR account. Any advice? How's the starting pay, benefits , how are drivers treated and do they have good trucks. How much experience u need to start. Thank guys for your help.

Is it UPSfreight....or UPS....different jobs altogether...UPS freight is owned by UPS , it used to Overnite. Either way it would be a good job. It may be possible with your limited experience 0-1 year...hope your safety record id squeaky clean , and in that 0-1 year you've only held 1 job....they're sort of picky. But Good Luck , hope it pans out for you!

I can't guarantee this info because this is from what a delivery guy who transferred to OTR told me about 10 years ago: It's a union job and they normally fill those positions from within (delivery guys who want to transfer get first dibs) even though it's posted for external candidates.

Somebody correct me if that's not accurate. And from all I've heard UPS is overall a pretty good company to work for so take a shot at it.

If it is UPS truckload then it pays a lot less then linehaul drivers make. What I heard was .37 a mile and $15.00 an hour.

UPS Freight is different; they hire drivers off the street. That division also has flatbed. UPS Freight was once Overnight, until UPS purchased the company, as Tonythetruckerdude posted.

my friend just got hired at ups (brown not freight) off the street. started on call part time 24.00 hr for 4 months then got hired on busted down to 16.00hr but within a year says he will be back to 24.00 hr then top scale of 32.00 hr reached within 4 yrs this is out of davenport Ia sounds great right. but hold on he is on the call in board and will be for years so basically one week he might work all week next week 2 days and he has to be available 24/7 make no mistake ups is no gravy train but put your time in and deal with the B.S till you get some senority then its great, plus if you have kids the bennys are unbeatable

I know a few drivers that got on with Yellow and were on call 24/7 and if they were called had to be there within 2 hours. They kept a little overnight bag packed and carried it with them everywhere they went. They couldn't go fishing on their boat because if they were called they might be out on a river or lake.

    UPS Freight isn't that way.

Had a friend that served in the Army with me get hired by them....He worked there from '85 til 2011....26 years , and retired....his retirement package was UN believable....one thing he doesn't worry about is having the funds to do whatever he wants.

yup put up with the bs for a couple years and you can make some good money, it aint nothing for a driver with a little seniority to make 80k a year and be home every day
