They would sure appear to be service and emergency brake lines.
Not sure what big hoses would be involved in sliding the tandem’s….it’s usually a big handle to pull the pins and then pull against the brakes

This might help clarify what he's asking. I'm thinking he had a minor air leak, ignored it, and now he has a major air leak.

    What is this called?

I will make this simple as anc. ..the 2 small red and blue hoses runs under the trailer, then connects to two big black hoses, then th 2 black hoses connects back to the blue and red hoses. Can I eliminate the 20230511_225737.jpg two black hoses? Simple!

Since it involves your brakes , I’d call a road service .

If you were empty , and if you were only a few miles away from your destination , and if you knew how to cage the brakes, etc , and if you were pretty confident you weren’t gonna get a random roadside inspection , you might could safely do it ,
But if you got into an accident , even one that wasn’t your fault , and the responding officers noticed it or they called the DOT on duty officer , you’d be in a heap of trouble .

lot cheaper to call a road service

patching air lines or replacing gladhands is easy job for them .

If the hoses don't need to move until you make a permanent repair, yes you can.

Yes you can. Handle it. Get home. Beware of scales though. I’ve done those McGyver fixes to get moving and fixed it correctly once at the home 20.

Dave_in_AZ, kwswan and Hammer166 Thank this.

    Good deal
I used to carry a tackle box full of assorted hose fittings and connectors , unions , elbows etc

Make sure you get the fittings that are DOT approved for use on trucks ,
Not just the garden variety fittings from the hardware store .

I used to carry extra gladhands and a spare electric cable , spare lights , jumper cables , tow strap etc

Siinman, Arctic_fox and Ikamob01 Thank this.
