They have a lot of sneaky hiding places up in the woods and also a lot of hide-a-cop sneaky vehicles.

Yeahbut... it may behoove a driver to think of the best interests of the carrier first.

Dispatch got sick of me calling for approval of shorter routes, they finally just told me to go whichever way I thought was best, so it seems to build "trust".

I shaved so many miles they never said squat when I added a few OOR miles for my own benefit/pleasure, e.g., driving back to Bodie State Park for a day off shooting pictures.

    "Pay it forward".

I run the shortest miles. Period. Not so much for the company, but I don't like working for free. Plus running 20 and some of the "out of the way" roads have benefits. Like awesome scenery. In the summer (won't do it in the winter) I run Montana 200 because it's beautiful and cuts off a bunch of miles, in the winter it can suck because it's a solid sheet of ice.

may be out in the woods. but that's only part of the drive. the rest is wide open field pretty much.

The road itself is fine but this is the problem right now. Avoid.

Well those little hills on the desert can hide an OSP car pretty well and trust me they're out there too.
I've seen them many a time at both ends of Burns and near the 20/395 intersections East and West of Burns.
Not to uncommon to see one near the Idaho border as well.
