Hello! I saw this thread and was surprised to see I am a topic, lol! Anyway, as far as miles right now for us, we were in the shop until Tuesday night this week. That said, we missed 3 of the 7 days in the week for miles and still finished out the week with 4400 miles. So, while tired, we are not broke, haha. I don't know much about USExpress, as I have never worked for them. I can tell you that they run some of the most rickety looking equipment I have seen for a Mega company. Conway keeps their equipment looking great and running the same. The only thing I have to say that is bad, you have to work 7 days to get one off. A lot of companies have that policy, but I'm getting sick of never being at homeI want a Christmas tree this year!! Lol, anyway...if you have any questions post them here! I will answer them as best I can, it may be a day or two when we are running hard. Hope you find what you are looking for. One thing: if you both just finished school, you will go to Conways finishing school, Crowder, during orientation week. If it is still the same, you will work with Kelly and she is awesome!! Then you will both get split up for 3 weeks to go with a finisher in their truck. Just an FYI. I apologize ahead of time if there are grammatical errors in this, I am using an IPod and it's time for bed!

If you go to the USXpress side, there are a few good people that are trustworthy for advice. Sheepdog is fairly new, but he has done alot of research. Good luck with your ventures.
SheepDog Thanks this. -
Thank you Conwaygirl and mtnMoma both for your replies...we have accepted an offer from Conway and will be headed to Joplin on the 19th for orientation. Christine called yesterday to confirm everything and to let us know that we are approved. We are very excited and cant wait to hit the road. I have heard alot of positive things about Conway and feel they were our best choice.
mtnMoma Thanks this. -
Christine was our recruiter as well!!

Yeah Christine was great to deal with...my wife is a little nervous about Crowder, she has heard about the skid pad...lol The other thing is we spent 8 weeks in school driving 9and10 speeds plus super 10's but no 13's...I hear alot of Conway's trucks are 13's...I am sure we can learn them quick...I hope...lol

Brunsco, I wish you and your wife the very best in your new adventures as a Husband and wife team... You must have done your research, H/W teams is where the money is at.. My advice to you is no matter where you go, you keep a positive attitude, no matter what. Your FM/DM or Dispatcher is not the one to yell at or take your problems out on..in fact, you should treat that person with the greatest respect, like family. Anyway,, a positive attitude goes a long way in this business.
Have fun while on the road and wish you the best....God BlessmtnMoma Thanks this. -
Thanks SheepDog...the wife and I understand that its not a perfect world out there and that we are thankful to have a job. We have read alot on here and other sights about how your FM/DM or Dispatcher should be treated with respect and that you will have your good days and bad...its all what we make of it and keeping positive. We intend to learn all we can through info gathered on this sight from fellow drivers as well as hands on experience from day to day. This is a big change for us from our usual day to day and we intend to make the best of it...
mtnMoma, SheepDog and The Challenger Thank this. -
Tell her to be excited for the skid pad, it is GREAT FUN!!! I did hear that some students are not going to Crowder now? It could just be talk, I just heard that yesterday at the W Memphis terminal from another driver. If it means anything, I would rather have a 13. The half gears are really nice to have, especially on the mountains. They are a little harder to learn, but well worth it if you get one!!The Challenger and Brunsco Thank this.

Does Conway just hire from certain schools or do they take app from any certified course, the reason I ask is that a friend is going to Roadmaster's here in Tampa, FL. and he and I are thinking of teaming up when he is done, I was approved by CFI a few months back thru an O/O and also told if I wanted to come on I was welcome but as a solo it didn't seem as good as what I eventually took... But... where I am at will in no way work for a team soooo....
Any answers would be great and appreciated!! Also a number and extension for your recruiter and I'll mention your name too!
Thanks for any help. -
I spoke with Christine from Conway this morning and all is full speed ahead...we will head to Joplin for Monday the 17th orientation then off to Crowder for the remainder of the week and then we will head out with our finishers...#### I am excited!
jlind Thanks this.
