Teaming is tough being a truck 24/7 with someone. Lots of days I have trouble getting along with myself.

Teaming pay varies by company. You have to have "quality team lanes" most of the time to be financially successful, independently. And there's not many companies that have quality team freight.
To me good team lanes means, lanes and minimal wait times that keep the team moving at least 5,500 mile/week, EVERY week (not "some weeks"), and they frequently end up at a common location they can both use for home time (restart).
Husband/wife teams are ideal because they "pool" the income and short weeks aren't so detrimental to the team as they would be 2 independent drivers supporting their own families. There will be slow weeks wether you're driving solo or team (weather and other issues), but at least if you're solo, you don't have to spend days stuck in a tin can with another miserable individual.OldCoyote66 Thanks this. -
Husband and wife team here. The best part ? When we do have downtime..........

I highly recommend teaming even if it's with another guy and you have no intention of making love to him.
1. Teams do more drop & hook, rarely will you do live load/unloads.
2. You see less of the BS that exists in this industry.
3. Won't be parked at a truck stop every night since the truck is moving 24/7. Nothing fun about watching reruns of 'Charmed' and 'Law & Order' with a room full of truckers.
4. Companies give the teams newer equipment and priority status when the truck is in the shop.
5. You have someone to help you if you ever get into a sticky situation.
6. The road gets lonely so it's nice to have someone to share it with.Last edited: Jun 19, 2015
OldCoyote66, flood and slim shady Thank this. -
I can not run teams, part of the appeal of trucking to me has always been the solitude. I am not happy joined at the hip 24/7 with another individual.

What about during the winter months ? Wouldn't it be easier to sleep if you could curl up next to someone.
-
no, I go home for that.

Shame ! Your depriving a lot of drivers of what could be some amazing cuddle time.flood Thanks this.
