(Here come the fireworks) If I worked for a union company, I wouldn't be a part of the union. I would still be required to pay the portion for collective bargaining, but I would have no ties, therefore I wouldn't be part of any picket line.

"most drivers talk tough against having a union because they are afraid of not appeasing their supervisor"
Sounds to me like you seem to know what most drivers are thinking...I was just presenting a possible alternative. -
This is getting interesting lol..ID give my opinion but if I did the mod sqaud would give me the firing sqaud as I seem to be on they're poo poo list lately .
passingthru69 Thanks this. -
Perhaps someone actually from US Foods or Sysco can comment, but what I've heard on docks (USF Severn MD, in particular) is that this is fallout from an attempted Sysco/US Foods merger that involved closing a number of USF locations (Severn, MD again being one). I know I won't be bidding any USF work any time soon, until this blows over. Not that I typically do anyway...USF is a pain in the arse to deliver to, and Sysco is worse.
Bob Dobalina and bzinger Thank this. -
Maybe some of us not only like our jobs, but also have bills to pay.
For me, that trumps all.
Misery loves company, and I know very well that malcontents exist everywhere that will never be satisfied no matter how good they have it. If someone else wants to take an extended vacation without pay, that is HIS problem. I won't make it mine.otherhalftw, mjd4277, xlsdraw and 2 others Thank this. -
Mine is reality, I've watched it often enough, and I'm talking about union shops. -
Who says, you? If they are going to hire replacement workers, you won't be in the picture, you will know how things were, therefore you wouldn't be wanted. -
So when you have a union job you are satisfied with, and the company locks you out, what then? -
-
What, you don't get it? Just my because you would only pay agency fees, doesn't mean they would keep you around for anything if they tried to replace the union workers, in you hypothetical situation of working at a union shop.
