I thought so as well. However, I think they get around this by paying for it up front and then charging the o/o for it. I talked to the recruiter today and was told (after I asked) that the o/o is charged for them at $168 per week.
I just read the Leasing Regs on the OOIDA website. It is true that the leasor (leasing company) must carry Public Liability per FMCSA regs, but it doesn't specify that they can't pass that cost to the leasee (o/o). However, any charges for this insurance must be declared in the lease agreement.
A thought just occured to me... if the leasee is not required to purchase any insurance from the leasor, then how can the leasor charge the leasee for an insurance that the leasor is requiered by FMCSA to carry?

Is the $2.30 and $1.50 andother numbers you posted before or after they take 12%? Are they booking broker loads or their own customer loads? You mentioned they pay tolls if you turn in receipts. Is that just certain tolls or all tolls?
-
the pay was after they took there 12%. just remember to ask if the rate they tell you nis before or after the 12%. the only tolls i had was in pa so im not sure about the rest of them.yes they are all brokered loads

Have you calculated you average per mile loaded and empty yet?

I see on the website that 18500 is the tractor weight limit.I have a W9 and weigh 20000 with fuel. But can scale 45500.I think that's plenty. But on the door jam it says 18500.So what are they going by?I live in North MS,wonder how getting by home would be?

you would be ok the most i ever hauled was 45k. they never said anything to me about the tractor weight.
-
When I spoke with the recruiter last week he said the 18,500 was a dry weight (emty trk..i.e. no fuel,no driver, and no accessories ), and that the most they would haul is 46,000.
roaddawg92, still wondering about your average $ per mile loaded and empty.Last edited: Jul 25, 2010

Hey roaddawg, hows it going over here. Ive been here for about 5 weeks. Freights pretty slow right now at least for me what about you how are you doing?????
-
yeah thats close but the most i hauled was 45k. and the lightest was 8kthe rates are up and down the most i got was 2.30 and the lowest was 1.47 they did have some that was around 1.10 but i turned it down and they get something else. and all loads are brokered loads. they dont have any of their own customers. i still dont know why they are wanting the weight deal when its uo to the driver if he or she wants that load or not. like i said they never said anything to me about that. but then again seems like things changed evry week .
