What do you guys do up there about the restrictive US hours of the restart and then cross our borders.
Do you have to adhere to our 34 restrictions on the books prior to the crossing then be in violation after you arrive?

I found that the easiest way to deal with U.S. HOS when frequently crossing the border was just to run by U.S. rules while in Canada. I also found it helpful to run a logbook program on my laptop.

We have the reset here too. You have to compliant when you cross the border, that's all. Phil is right. Easier to just run on u.s. rules if you cross often.

You cannot run the US rules if you also run some Canadian only trips. It would not work. ( 8 days vs. 7). 34 hour reset vs. 36.

Think of it this way: Always run the lesser of two evils and you'll be legal. Same applies to European drivers.

Why can't they just have a common HOS for both USA and CANADA.... This way people can't screw up and get charged on the logbooks because they made a honest mistake..... Then the confusion would be taken right out of the picture...

Because the only way that is going to happen is if we accept the U.S. HOS and they're so screwed up as to be next to useless. IMHO.

PLEASE GOD NO!!!! I have to run US but its on my 3 rd day out, and only for 4-8 hrs, occasionally I have to over night if my reload isn't ready but usually, I leave home Monday am, 2 days I'm in Windsor, grab my 10hrs, in, drop, south to Ohio, switch, and back out. This way all my days are 13 hr days, home Friday with 3200ish miles, if we go with that stupid 11 hr day, 14 hr window, and not being able to split the sleeper easily, I would never get home by Friday every week.Speedloader Thanks this.

Get a laptop and Eclipse, you can switch from US to Canada HOS and it will tell you if your in violation easily. Saves my butt as he US HOS are so screwed its ridiculous, the split sleeper birth is crazy, I can't figure it out.Speedloader Thanks this.
