I started on with a mail contractor last week. Company called "Target Trans Logic" out of Ohio. Postal rate in NY is $23.77 per hour for T/T driver. Company is paying me $18.82 per hour . They told me the other $4.some odd dollars will go for health ins. but of course I cant get health. ins. for 90 days. R they scamming me and where can I find info on "The wages are set by the government and the the company MUST pay you those wages" I used to work for MTI in Fl and someone filed on them for only paying $8.00 per hour while not on postal property or having mail in trlr. Long after I left MTI I got a check in the mail for $2000 in back pay on account of that law action. I want what is owed to me even after only working one week with this company. (MTI has a strict no rehire policy)

The rate you are paid should be in 2 parts, the base rate for the contract you are pulling which looks like 18.82 an hour and the health and welfare rate which should be around 5$ an hour. If you are not eligible for health insurance for 90 days you should be getting that 5$ an hour until they start deducting the cost of your benefits, medical, dental, vision etc.. I am guessing that $23.77 an hour is the base contract rate plus H/W which sounds kind of low because when I was running east coast mail the base rate was over 22.00 an hour by itself and adding in the H/W brought it over 27.
Just my opinion but it sounds like you hired onto a leach, a company sucking the wages from a driver to pad the profits. Not unheard of in the mail hauling jobs. stick with them till your benefits kick in and see what rate goes up to. There are other mail hauling companies in Ohio to choose from.

I live in Buffalo, the company is out of Ohio, with penske rental trucks. I can't find a website for their business, my girlfriend found 1 review on facebook that said they were a scam company, with bad checks, ez pass not being paid and other things. I wonder if I was the driver that replaced this one?! He quit end of May & I started beginning of June.

EZ Pass not being paid isn't a red flag as a lot of trucking companies are routing drivers around toll roads to save bucks. Only 1 review and no website info tells me its not much of a place to be and would definitely throw a flashing caution light up in front of me. Double check your paycheck for sure and start looking into other mail hauling companies around buffalo

    NY rate is $23.77 plus $5.11 H&W .
    IMO they are hosing you.
Also like mailman 59 said, they are already being paid the H&W so it should be coming to you if your not getting insurance.
