All you cross border heroes, check your medical coverage for a medical assistance when you are in the USA. I recently had to drive to the hospital for a MINOR emergency in FL. They checked my blood pressure, took some blood for an analysis, and I got 2 pills pain killers. My bill was $2700 US!!!! I was there for less than 2hrs.
OHIP will pay only $50 CDN per incident!!! My company US insurance is for $5000 per occurrence only!!! So I was lucky!! But that amount is NOT enough as a day in a hospital could go easily to $25000 or more !!!! - depending on what had to be done.
And here is the kicker I didn't know about!!!
A US hospital will put a lien on your house in Canada for an unpaid medical bill!!!! - or any other asset for that matter!!!! So make sure you have an adequate coverage because US medical service is super expensive.

Your company SHOULD be paying for full coverage insurance, if you're a company driver. If you're an O/O, there are policies available that cover US medical bills for a fairly reasonable cost.
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
A full coverage insurance is the key. But, how many companies do pay it? Mine was a very big carrier in Canada. I suspect most drivers don't check the amounts until it is too late. You should go to your HR and ask how much you are insured for in case of a medical emergency? If less then $1 000 000 run! 2-3 weeks in a hospital with serious complications could easily add up to $500000 or more.
