At this point in the process with one exception an attorney is useless and a waste of money. The person being supervised is under sentence of the US District Court and the probation dept oversees this. Now, where a great attorney can come in handy is later to attempt to get an early termination hearing on the docket. This rarely works, but I have heard it does from time to time. If a Judge grants an early termination the person being supervised is a free man.
