Bye the way you can prove that they are ripping you off. Gather up all your logs and figure out just how many miles you drove and compare it to what they payed you. Then take them to a lawyer and sue there sorry #####.

And that would have been fine and dandy had they told you to do so, or did they?

When I started working for USX back in 98 they used to run the carp out of us. You would no sooner get unloaded from your east coast to west coast run and get another one back. I ran 10 and 8 non stop for weeks. Legal Log Books? Ha! That was for the terminal rats in tunnel hill with the pushed out PTA's that liked to play cards and eat pizza all weekend. They ran you till you begged them to let you out of truck long enough for your legs to stop wobbling. It was nothing to run 700- 800 miles a day for weeks on end. You did not do locals, rail frt, re-powers or much of anything that was under 1000 miles unless it was to get you to the coast to pu another 2800 mile plus load.

Fast forward to 2004 when the company took a nose dive for the worse as soon as they put their first 20 trls on the rails at the Phili Pa rail yard. 7 or 8 loads a month for 14000 miles became 18 to 20 loads for 9000 miles if you were lucky. Now it's just another JB Hunt clone. The last year I ran OTR there, they gave everyone a 5 cent a mile raise which they claim was to compensate for the new HOS rules. It was really to try to keep some drivers from quiting as soon as they started running those 100-300 mile rail loads in between the endless hours spent on loads you pu and drop at the rail yards.

I see you have Covenant on your list. Don't you know that Covenant is owned by the brother that owns US Express? They operate the same way except you have to pay $1.36 a week for your trip paks, $4.00 a month for prepass and they cheat you miles if you don't keep tight records. I hope you read your mail before you do anything.

I'm still hanging with us xpress I just cannot afford to end up at another crappy company. I'm really doing some heavy research and from my list it appears that Celadon seems to be ok I don't see any negativity about them on this board. USA Truck doesn't seem have bad either they have a regional run that I would kill for the southeast. I live in Gosnell,Arkansas and one of there terminals is in West Memphis,AR....hmmm decisions decisions.

I have heard that Hogan is good, not sure though. I am job shopping right now, it's hard to know who or what to believe these days. Just know I won't work for another training company.

Once again, don't work for Covenant or USxpress. Some drivers get miles but it is not the norm. They are training companies they get approx $4,900 for each student that completes their training program after that they could care less about you. Covenant runs about 200 a week thru orientation, what does that tell you?

If I was a company driver with THOSE choices... I would have to say... CELADON...

I've not heard anything BAD on their behalf.

Another one I've heard nothing but Good things about is TMC. But... Sense they are a Skateboard Carrier im not sure their insurance will cover a 1 year VET... lol

    Plus,
The BLACK fleet of pete's are in my book the better LOOKING carrier on the highways today.

    All the best,
    Matt :biggrin_25517:
