I was told by the recruiter for US Xpress that training is 6 months and that you have to team with a trainer driver or team with another Newbie out of the same school I'm in. Something doesnt sound right. Can I get some help from US Xpress drivers.

You have to team with someone for six months. I am unsure about the training but do know you have to do a written and driving test as well as complete modules online.

I live in PA and recruiter didn't send me teaming disclosure form. He said my area doesn't require it.

I was hired last Feb and live in AZ. My recruiter never mentioned anything about being forced to team either. Infact, she specifically said that I could go solo following the 160 hr time with a trainer. At the end of completing the up grade at Tunnel Hill, GA, they casually said I would have to wait until they could locate a team partner from my home area.I protested, called my recruiter, who was very apolagetic but admitted she had 'unknowlingly' given me incorrect information. I complained to the training dept and they let me run solo until a team partner was found.

There are many though who finish their time with a trainer and then are able to go solo with no problems. But I also met a number of drivers who experienced a situation like mine.

Like everything else associated with trucking: nothing is carved in stone. And about the only way a person can deal with a constantly changing game plan, is to be just as flexible in attitude and expectations as the circumstances of the trucker lifestyle are bound to dictate. Overall USX is a good company and I hope you enjoy your time there.

It is completely based on where you live. Many areas are fine to go solo out of the gate, I have heard that Florida is an area they require team for 6 months if you are inexperienced.

I wonder why Florida drivers have all these different rules.
