Although I'm new I believe it depends on your region you are in. I'm in Ohio and effective Feb 6th after I complete a 3 day orientation and then 3 weeks with a trainer I have to then do 8 weeks with a team driver. Again although new to this and realizing the difficulty of finding the best company to start with I feel that USxpress is one of the better ones after reading so many horror stories. One question I have is do they have a problem with long hair as my hair is somewhat longer than most. I know a stupid question!

they just changed the training to what they told you. it's now 3 weeks + or - a few days

120hr's driving time then team with a new driver like your self for 8 weeks then your on your own

the only stuped question is the one that doesn't get asked
long hair is no prob, mine is almost 1/2 down my back, longer than my wife's, just keep it neat, clean, and out of the way when working

Hey Flood thanks for replying to my post and also my question about my hair as that was really bugging me. A friend of mine who owns his own rig told me to cut it, well, not really but said that if it's a job or my hair cut the hair so he made me feel as though I should cut it. I don't want to cut it and then go to the orientation only to find out they cut me and had cut my hair just for that. Again the hair thing is of a religious nature but don't talk about it to others. Anyway thanks a bunch.

Only other question I have is what is the job verification involve other than checking the fact that I worked for a school district and was not at anytime employed as a driver nor subject to DOT regulations. Just curious because I did not really resign with the best of terms. After 20 years of good service and my previous boss retired in came a real A-Hole who, well, you get the picture. I got an Attorney and sued them for discrimination and was from that my Attorney was able to settle and I was able to collect unemployment for the past 2 years now. Enough time to figure out what I could and would want to do and so went to CDL school. Sorry didn't mean to get into all that but am curious as to what they will ask.

You need to be honest. What they will not accept is anything they feel is a falsehoods on you app. They dig deep

All they do is verify employment. By law they have to verify it for the past three years, ten if you were subject to DOT. They will not ask for all those details.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm just paranoid due to the crap that went on at the previous job and in need of a break for a new career. Thanks again!

Was offered another job today working on the Natgas platforms driving for them only that you do more than drive / on call 24/7 with 70 hour weeks. I would probably take it but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I mean I really want to drive and that job wouldn't be driving that much only when they needed a rig moved or equipment moved to site. I feel that I really don't want to pass up the USX thing even though initially the money is so much better with the Natgas job.

You need to get at least a year of OTR experience before you go local if you ever want to drive OTR in the future.
