I was contacted by James Bishop of USA Truck who stated that he was the number 3 man in the company. After speaking with him for a few moments, he told me that I was hired and wanted to know how soon I could get down to Atlanta, GA for orientation and training. We both agreed on September 9, 2011 as I don't graduate from school until September 2, 2011. He advised me that his word was better than a contract. He asked me to contact him today after speaking things over with my wife. When I returned the call to him today, I advised him who I was and that he asked me to contact him today. He rudely stated "There's nothing I can do" and hung up the phone. Really? Is this how the no. 3 man in the company treats new drivers? No thanks. I'd rather have nothing to do with USA Truck or James Bishop after this. At 55 years old, I don't expect to be coddled, but a little respect from a potential employer is expected. If this is how USA truck treats their potential drivers, I can't imagine how they treat their current drivers. Be safe drivers! Hope you are treated better. I'll find a better company to work for.

a quick search of gousatruck.com says the name jim bishop or james bishop "Not Found". Quick search of http://people.forbes.com/search?ticker=USAK listed no such person as an executive or director of the company.
.
Hope you did not give this clown any personal information like social security number or like information or you may be screwed. I would suggest that you contact the USA Truck company to inform them of what took place.
.
I would not write the company off just because of this. -
I wouldn't write them off either because of that. Obviously whomever you spoke with didn't remember your conversation but thought he did, but it was the wrong conversation.
What? -
I also did research before this last phone call looking for a James or Jim Bishop at USA and didn't find anything. No personal information was provided to this person. Thankfully. I contacted my school afterwards and was advised he did the same thing to another student today. The school is contacting USA Truck tomorrow. I have his number and he says USA Truck when answering. Just seems odd that yesterday when we spoke he was willing to send a truck to my school to bring me to orientation in GA, pay me .32 cpm, 401k, full benefits and was all set to have me work for them. I talked to him earlier today and he wanted me to come earlier than the 9th. I explained that if I don't finish at school early enough on the 2nd I won't be able to make it to Sec of State ofc and will have to go on Tues as Mon is a holiday. He asked me to call him back and when I do he hangs up. Seems very unprofessional even if he doesn't remember talking to me. I agree that if this guy doesn't work for the company, then its not the fault of the company.

The #3 man in the company would most likely not be recruiting prospective drivers. However, it was a magnanimous gesture on your part to share your experience with us. -
I certainly wouldn't reject the company based on these experiences. Trust me, you'll be able to find myriad other reasons to reject them soon enough.
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Just wanted to make other prospective drivers aware of this. This guy is a soft white underbelly. I don't need to judge the whole company

I drive for PAM, which goes through Driver Solutions, which also utilizes USA Truck. I think that's the answer you're looking for. Maybe this Jim Bishop is employed by Driver Solutions and NOT USA Truck??
-
Well here's what I found out. I got an email from someone that said someone named James is representing himself from USA, Schneider, PAM etc calling from a 615 area code trying to scam people. So maybe this thread should not be posted under "bad company". Its not USA Truck or any other company. Its a bottom feeder trying to get $ from people. Fortunately he got no money or personal information from me. New and prospective drivers beware.
-
615 area code is Nashville, TN. Hmmm....
I think you dodged a bullet with this "Jim Bishop."
