Customs on each side don't really care about what kind of radio you use.
I have been search many many times while running a HF plus 10M at same time not once they have ask me a thing about it, believe me they already have lot's to do without worrying about this.

Some of them will care, they will look at the radio and ask if you have a license for the 10 meter rig, and if you don't, they take it. I have been asked a few times with the little 10M rig in my pickup and was told they are to ask.rabbiporkchop and Ougigoug Thank this.

I find each providence has their own unique attitude of severity. DOT in Manitoba is strict on matters. In Ontario, they are seemingly quite strict. Alberta is relaxed. Saskatchewan is relaxed. BC I hear will have a radio confiscation day randomly.

if you have your ham license you can have a programmable radio in your truck in canada. You can also have a scanner, which is illegal in a truck in the US without a ham license.
the license allows you to posses the radios and it's not illegal to have the ladd and other freqs
programmed in it. Just like it's not illegal to have public safety and gmrs/murs freqs programmed in it. Since you are legally allowed to posses it with a license they would have to prove you are transmitting on it. -
True but real men follow the law, all laws, wherever they live or visit. Unfortunately the average male has lost that respect and trait.not4hire Thanks this.

Did you seriously just insult my manhood?! WTF?
I wonder how many laws you break every day and probably don't even realize it. -
Oh I just saw your post count. That kind of attitude won't be tolerated for long on this site. I've seen guys like you come and go.

I'm a bit confused by the programmable radio part, what do you mean.
By the way the scanner thing is a state by state thing, the ham license just ensures you don't get hassled in states that it is outlawed in. -
A commercial radio that is front-programmable (allows the user to enter in frequencies); not allowed in Canada as frequencies are assigned.
Just like this (which I may, or may not, have a quantity of
)...

being in possession of a user programable radio without a ham license is a big no no in canada.
