Use old us dot number

    Quick question drivers. I'm getting ready to buy my own truck.my parents had a trucking company 15 years ago then my dad pass away and we sold the truck can I use there number. Thanks

    Definitely have to check on that one. I know some guys that tried to use their dads numbers from the 70's and they were told it was too long ago and the numbering situation was different. But if you can get it and use it, I highly suggest that you do, but being as it is that old, they probably won't allow it.

    Depends on if the numbers were put on what they call hold or if the numbers were canceled. Best to check

    If it was tied to his SS#, no way. If it was a corporation, yes.

    I always figured that when somebody went out of business, after a few years they would just issue the same number to somebody else. Never really put too much thought in it actually.
