Drag them around a stone parking lot on your pickup. Cleans the rust right up.
Only a few at a time so you don't accidentally make a big not.
Used chains anyone?

Very costly mistake.

A worn out old style cement mixer and a couple bags of play sand and toss in one at a time for 15 min and you will be pleased with how clean they come out.
The reason for wore out is the chain can get caught on the paddles unless they are almost gone.CAXPT Thanks this. -
Or a Harbor Freight smaller cement mixer and take the paddles out, and put in any one of their sandblasting media (walnuts, slag, glass) and let it spin the rust away.
beastr123 Thanks this. -
I’d be afraid to use any chain that is made with chinesium . It’s made with the same quality of their other stuff .
Pay extra and get chain and hooks and binders made in the US or Canada . -
The threads in the china binders seem to be short lived…no surprise.
I bought a couple once because I was desperate and they were the lastCAXPT Thanks this.
