If you owned the company your attitude would be different. 40% no show at orientation then the ones who fail the drug test or fail the physical. You would want to limit your financial exposure also. The background check is very expensive and labor intensive.

I always ignore the DriverTech when it says out of route. They've never charged me. I never had to call them about that.

How do you blame a company when a driver gets a speeding ticket and/or a seatbelt ticket?

About those average miles, not all those power units are up and running all the time. There's no real way to tell the average based on that.

USX had over 14,000 inspections. Their OOS % is well below the national average.

You are spot on, but it's not just driving, it's pretty much any profession. There's a race to the bottom that's been going on since '79 when wages stop tracking productivity. Question is what can we do about it? When will we have our "let them eat cake" moment and break out, either figuratively or literally, the portable permanent head removers?

So the alternative is to treat people like a disposable commodity and toss them out on the side of the road to fend for themselves like an unwanted puppy? There has got to be a better way to do business.

How about paying better, treating them better, getting them home more often, and doing other stuff to lower the turn over rate. That might be a great way to limit that financial exposure.

A company with a 40% no show, #### close the doors, and it is no longer 1977, people that flunk the drug test are few. Excuse making without facts.

Its more expensive to get the driver there, find some fault in him, and then send him home on a bus. The company I'm with now did the drug test and physical locally before I got there. That makesmore sense doesn't it?

Yep, you have to write to the home office in Chattanooga to find out why they did not hire you. You can do a background and dmv fast before hire and start the verification process since they use DAC before the applicant arrives.

They always scheduled more people to come then they have room for because they know there will be no shows. When to many show up then they start weeding out drivers more then they would if not as many as scheduled showed up.

A guy I know was turned down because he was not open to leasing or teaming and had a prev employer he worked for for less then 3 mo's. He had to go home and write to home office to find out.Sure some get turned down for legit reasons, but USX should tell every applicant to not expect to get hired and have money to get home instead of telling them everything checks out and to come on down. No driver should assume they are hired till they are sitting behind the wheel and pu their first load. But some do and are not told the full story on the hiring process by the recruiters.

Craig, by no means am I putting down USX. They are a team
OTR company and I look forward to driving team with you guys.
Some companies do the background check up front after doing some past
Employer checks first. I live close enough to drive anyway and
want to keep a vehicle near the maintenance shop. So I can have
Home time during repairs. Craig how is the heat in the cab today?
