I am not blindly supporting USX either. What I am saying that as someone who has owned three companies and employed a lot of people you learn a few things. Employees (most) have little or no loyalty to a company yet they are very upset if the company does not bend over backwards to accomodate their every want and need. I believe USX could do a much better job in the orientation and hiring process but it is their money they are spending and they must have some justification for how they do it. I am not saying the justification is valid, just that it is theirs and they have the right to do it the way they want to. Nobody is forced to work for this or any company. I did my research before I applied and I knew exactly what I was getting in to. I think it is incumbent on the applicant to do their homework.

We are still in home time and will be leaving out sometime today.

Thanks Craig, I also have owned several companys and have been in upper management roles in some huge companies. I have been following your travels and look forward to traveling while making a decent living. You have been a good example for many of us out here. You get out of it what you put in.

That is a two way street. Most companies today treat employees as an expendable commodity and expect them to bend over in order to meet the companies needs - family, birthdays, holidays, life outside of work or just plain fairness be ######. There was a time in this country from about the end of WWII to about the end of the 70's where companies for the most part cared about their workers and in turn workers where loyal to their employers.

There are plenty of good mid sized companies, smaller ones do tend to fold during hard times ...

A few in the south east ...

    Big G Express
    Schrader/Brown
    Teton
    Rosedale
    Kennesaw

Just a few from talks with actual drivers, just casual - not refferal bonus rookies BS.

Some of those are employee owned, and well managed.

Do your homework, talk to drivers on the road and at the fuel islands.

Yep and living in the area where 2 of them are headquartered (Titan and Big G ) pay .33 to .34 cpm, and only run 2000 miles a week

Ouch, only 680 per week? That won't pay the bills.

Depends on the bills, have to research to find the best fit.

Probably need to work for an owner op company (or become one) to get those big miles. Just make sure they pay you ...

Not gonna happen at bigger companies anymore.

I agree that any company should be able to decide who works for them and who does not. I am certainly not a pom pom holder for workers hiring thugs to Strong arm company's into keeping perpetually lazy workers hanging around till their pension date. But when drivers are spending 2 days on buses to come to your orientation you should at least make it clear that they could be on a bus back home soon after they arrive. And in some cases through no fault of their own. The first thing any driver should do is look in the mirror and ask themselves would I hire me? And they should also know that the requirements for hiring a driver in the ads and websites are minimum requirements and sometimes fluctuate with the needs of the company. What gets you sent home in the winter when frt is slower might not be a issue in the summer.

I'm always suspicious of negative posts where there is negativity in the first post, then the person bugs out of the forum. I've been a moderator myself and I've seen this type all too much and I never trust the post. Just sayin'. :yes2557:
