using mobil as base

    i was thinking that since im having trouble finding a base could i hook a mobil cb like a cobra 29xlt classic up to a 12v converter (that i have) then hooked that to a base antenna would it work the same as a base?

    if you use a mag mount antenna in the house, put it on a cookie sheet or a pizza pan.

    It's needed for the "ground plain" that would be missing from the vehicle.

    Yes you can many radios can be run base or mobile ....

    Yes it will work very well. Just use at least RG-8 coax.

    That is really all a base is; a mobile with a built in power supply. Which brings me to my point, be sure your power supply is big enough to run your radio.
