Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have agreed to be a trainer for USX BTW. Just want to point out something for newbies who might be reading this. Yes, there are times when you won't be able to get a shower. There are times you have to rush to get where you need to be. There are times when you'll have to pee in a bottle. That's all just part of trucking. Don't be discouraged if your first run out doesn't go exactly as you planned or expected.
Also being out there by your self where you can make that choice is one thing, making that choice for others is another thing. You don't deny someone a shower when you are 4 miles from a truck stop and you are told that you have to pull into a rest area.
You really didn't give enough info for me to comment on that. What truck stop? What time of the day or night? When you are a trainee you have to bite the bullet sometimes. I know I did. My comments weren't really about your situation. I was talking in more general terms. You didn't really give enough info about your situation to comment on it specifically.
I thought that I had given all of this info when I started this thread. I am not here to argue with any bodies opinion either. I was only stating the issues that I had with a trainer. 99% of the people that know about this and the details have pretty much said that this type of thing does not happen. This person was more interested in how quickly they could get the load to the receiver and make all of the stops and then how quickly he could get back to the DC to get the next load. This is not to mention some of the games this person was trying to play too. If you would like to know more of the details on what went on, then please feel free to read the beginning of the thread. If you have any direct question on it, I would be happy to explain. I have had several conversations with the folks at USX, and we are working on trying to turn this around.
I read the whole thread. Maybe other people know more of the details than you posted. I hope this next trainer works out better for you. The big no-no I saw in your original post was the falsifying of logs. The trainer should have been fired for that. The rest was a little general.
Yes there are a few people that know a little bit more about it. It was not my choice on the logs. I was told what to do, and I did inform USX about that too. I too hope that this turns around, works out, and then I will be out on my own like I would like to be.
I found out that a driver only needs to have one year of exp. and 30 days with USX to be a trainer....LOLOLOLOLOL I have almost 4 years and I would only train my wife or someone I consider a friend...like you Mr Thomas.... but to be a trainer in general..nope.. I still consider myself a rookie, maybe when I have 5 years.
One of my daughters went to one of the truck stops listed as a source to purchase the book. She was told by the clerk/owner that the book has not been available for several years. This makes sense when you look at the website...the date on it is 2006.
I guess some people pick things up quicker than others..LOL Get this, I ran into the guy I roomed with during orientation. He claims someone called him and asked him to become a trainer. He was brand new at this. I think someone called him by mistake. BTW, I had a co-driver who claimed to have driven for 30 years. He couldn't do anything. I tried to "train" him but he was incapable of learning. Just goes to show that years don't mean anything.
I tell you what driver... I can defiently teach a NEWBIE how to drive, how to tripplan, how to look out for ones self, what TS's not to park at, how to Pretrip, how to post trip and all the other things that I am leaving out but, I have not drove long enough to tell you what MM's are what... My father could tell you what MM for whatever you asked in whatever state it was in and whatever road your were referring to...I bet there are drivers reading this right now that can do the same thing... If you get into a situation you have never been in before,,Make one up,,,than how you going to teach the driver you are training how to get through that situation... I think and believe, that most train simply for the little extra money... A real trainer, does it simply because that person LOVES what they do and want to make sure a NEWBIE does too... That of course is my opinion and the way I see it....
