Sorry for this happening, it sure sucks. In my opinion, I would have just stuck it out with this loser. Keep your eye on the big picture, you are after a job. Why no PTI? You are driving the truck, take the key out of the ignition and get out and do a full PTI. He probably would have been so busy with his game he would not have noticed. I cannot figure guys like this out. If you are really just doing the training for the money, the smart thing would be to get you properly trained to where you can go team for 12 days or so, then he would be making bank.

Craig - I did think about maybe sticking it out, but a few things kept me from doing that.

1 - Do you like RAP Music? I hate RAP Music, driving the truck for 7 to 9 hours a day and having to listen to him play his game was so crazy. The sound effects from the game on the internet and the games on his cell phone killing my concentration on driving.

2 - Where was the training I was supposed to be getting? I am supposed to pass some sort of upgrade test at the end of the 150 hours. No one has really told me what that is all about? Drive the truck, yup I can do that. Backing up, I am pretty sure I can back it up into almost anywhere. Take my time in doing so, and get my butt out of the seat to look at what is back there too.

Again, the trainer was a nice guy, he just should not be a trainer.

Did you tell him to put that laptop away or get some headphones? I would have been tempted to rip it from his hands and toss it out the window...LOL

Craig is right in all he said. Just deal with the next one and get through it. The test is easy from what I've heard. Just be sure to study up on hazmat. My roomate from orientation said there were some hazmat questions he was not prepared for, but the rest was pretty simple.

OMG, you have no idea how many times I thought to my self to grab it and throw it out the window!!!!

The written test part should be a walk in the park. All of those Pro Tread Videos were really pretty boring, as it was mostly common sense on what to do and not to do.

I have my Hazmat as well as Tanker, Doubles and Triples Endorsements so I have taken all the DMV test and they really were not that hard.

To be honest, I am not sure I can handle doing another trainer if I dont really know them. To have this happen once is one thing, but to have it happen twice, and they would expect me to think everything was just going to be ok with a 3rd one that I know nothing about???

I'd offer to train you, but I can't get the training department to call me back. Your experiences make me want to become a trainer even more. At least that would increase the chance of a student getting someone who cares.

Some more of what was not taking place for the 5 days.

You get some sort of paper work for the load you have, and you fill out that thing that gets transflowed back in when you complete the load too. Well I never got to see or do anything with this for the 5 days either. I get in the truck he has the paper work, we go to the yard, and I ask what trailer we are picking up after I drop the one we have. We go pick it up, and start out. We get to the first stop, he takes the paper work and goes to see the manager. The manage brakes the seal on the door and we start to unload. Load done, trainer takes the manager into the back of the truck to see all of their stuff is unloaded, and they re-seal the door. This goes on until the trailer is empty.

We go back to the DC, I pull into the inspection lane for the yard guy to inspect the trailer and make sure the lift gate works. I circle some yes/no questions on the trailer. The trainer has gotten out of the truck, he comes back with new load info, I have no idea where he went to get this?? Back to the yard to drop and hook again.

Now as the day goes on, we get messages on the Driver Tech, he reads them and deletes them right away!!!! I never even got to read them. I did see one with just my name and the person it was from, but I was never able to read it, he deleted it, then he empties the deleted folder too.

All of the Macro stuff on the Driver Tech, he always did it, no instruction for me to do it to learn. I did get to do a Macro 49 once.

Again, where is the training here???

Renegade...wow. How crazy! Although I have been following nococraig...and respect what they put out there, I totally disagree with "sticking it out". No, I am not a trucker yet, however, with my dad being a trucker for about 40 yrs, and being on the road with him and my husband, I have to agree with you. How can anyone be a good driver or safe for anyone on the road when he is blocking the mirror, having distracting light and sounds constantly? And when is this so called trainer watching anything you are doing? I would have done the PTI's without him, it's not just for your safety, but others on the road. Hopefully you can get out there with sheepdog and get this training part behind you! Good luck HD!

I drive locally and have no connection whatsoever with USXpress. I wonder if USX corporate has any idea of what this kind of exposure this is costing them as a rebutal to their recruiting efforts. What qualified candidates or lack thereof will they be able to recruit in the future?
    .
It amazes me that training is such an obviously low priority to corporate wizards in all the trucking companies in the post 2010 CSA trucking industry.
