Thanks SheepDog. First a little background. I retired early from Mgmt and have alot of friends and family in the Business. Wife has been a planner for a major company for many years, Friends are o/o but their contracts require a year experience to drive with them. I'm looking to gain experience to go O/O once I've learned the ropes from the Drivers side. What I like about those 2 companies most (from what I hear) is that the Pay is decent, and weekly home time for the most part. I need to break my family in slowly to being gone so much. Also, until this thread I heard they have the best training programs. I'm not afraid of physical work in fact I welcome it. Need to keep in shape! any input is appreciated!

Roger,,,,You will want to go with TMC than...They are a good company and you will be home just about every weekend and work hard M-F...

USX is a good company as well but you will have to stay out two weeks before you can come home... Unless you take a dedicated account..

Exactly. At least with dedicated you know where you are going all the time. You know what the dock situation is, etc.

I talked with the Training Department this morning. They asked about why I got off the truck and I tried to explain that there was just no training going on, and for the most part the trainer sat in the jump seat playing games with not training going on.

They said that they did contact the last 3 people he trained and were told a much different story then what I had said to them. At that point I e-mail them my 5 page narrative report of what went on for the 5 days on the truck. I told them I had no reason to make up anything on my report, and I had nothing to gain by telling stories. I lsked them to please provide feed back to me once they check out what I had to say, and they said that they would.

Right now I am looking into or they are looking into having SheepDog finish up the training. SheepDog and I went thru Orientation together, and he knows that I would really like to be able to get out on the road and just do what a lot of you folks do everyday.

They are processing the Training App and they will have to have him come in for class and to upgrade his truck too.

It does help to have friends and support out there.

Again, I am just trying to share my experience with the training issues I have been thru with USX.

Sounds like they don't wanna be a snitch...But at the same time, that trainer is being paid extra to do a job, and he is just using his students for the extra money. Also he is supposed to make sure that everyone that leaves that truck is ready for the rd and is trained for all situations to the best of his ability. But to him, he is just happy with the extra money, and could care less if the student killed someone tomorrow when he goes solo.

My second trainer at USA was super cool. We got along and I was his first student since he had started back driving. He told me when he dropped me off for my upgrade, that if I thought he sucked to tell them. I said man you done great. He said well thanks, but if their is anything tell them. That way they can let me know and I can improve on it. I said I will do that, but I honestly had nothing bad to say about him.

The bottom line is that most students are completely broke by the time they get with there trainer and just want to get out on their own and start making money... I do understand this but that is just a ME way of thinking... I never just think about ME, I always think about someone else and that is probably a downfall of mine of sorts... but that is the majority of students. I find it hard to believe that all the students Renegades trainer had and Renegade was the only one that had issues...Comeon!

SheepDog, we will be reading about you next...LOL

But seriously, I think it's what the guy above said. Nobody wants to be a snitch. That's what all the guys with lots of experience taught me. What happens on the truck stays on the truck.

Renegade doesn't seem to need all this training he is complaining about not getting. He knows what needs to be done. Obviously the last trainer was confident with Renegade's ability to drive.

I'm not saying the trainer was awesome or anything.

Vin - It was not really so much of what training I was getting or what I wasn't getting, it was more of the fact that he knows what I do need to know in order to pass the upgrade. I could have been able to deal with the lack of the training that I was not getting, but it was the sound effects from all the games he was playing that irritated the ever loving heck out of my while I was trying to drive the truck safely.

More then once during my conversation with the head of training today, I told them that this guy was very good at his work, and that I did not have any personal issues with him. My issues were mostly the games, and second the lack of the training. I was not looking to hang him out to dry.

I could not get an answer from him when I asked about how was my driving, and I could not get an answer for any issues with shifting either. I was looking for feedback on both of these so that I could work on improving them both.

    thank you

Renegade, you don't have to tell me about annoying partners. I drove teams for nearly 2 years. I could tell you some stories...LOL. They always seem to get even more annoying if they aren't doing the job you think they should be doing.

Any tips and tricks you want to share on how to deal with running Teams? There is just only so much space, and it is not like you can go somewhere else to get away from that other person either.
