I think they might require all vehicles to have one if it’s being registered in NY. Who knows, it’s not like they didn’t require DPF on all trucks before.

D.Tibbitt and takeheed777 Thank this. -
maybe on a controlled roadway this will work along with ALL other vehicles being controlled.......however, they would (in time) test it in the real world, and all the other vehicles on THAT road, will NOT be rigged up to be controlled, which lead me to say, "what about the speeding vehicle coming up on thier donkey"..???
then too, can you imagine the push back for ALL vehicle owners, car, pick ups, SUV's, motorcycles, etc.....??
especially owner-operators who never give in to such BS..???? -
I never pulled over for the police in an area that did not leave myself and the officer room to get away from the highway by a couple feet. Have been #####ed at by the cops for it and told them all the same thing. My dad was a state cop in PA, when I was a youngster, his car was hit while pulling over someone for speeding and I decided then that his life and yours is worth waiting for a safe place! Deal with it, arrest me, write me an extra ticket. I simply don’t care at least here I don’t have to worry about you getting squashed!
Haven’t been yanked since sometime in the 80’s but to this day every single one has just shut thier pie hole and went about taking my information. A few actually dropped everything and sent me on my way without further action on the speeding.
I don’t believe everyone slowing to 30 mph and fighting for the other lane is a viable solution for every pull over we encounter. This many times works against the problem as it has cars scrambling because everyone starts panicking when traffic slows that much in front of them and many do irrational things when this happpens. I have seen cars cut to the right quickly to avoid the person who just abruptly cut into the left lane and jumped on the brakes from 70 to about 30 thinking they were being safe. That action of taking focus off the hole picture to just the car erratically cutting left and braking hard got the driver almost getting his front end ripped off to attempt an evasive maneuver and having no shoulder on the left cut right. He ended up in the side of the squad car as he just like the Bad driver who abruptly cut over and abruptly hit the brakes with nothing in front of him while he overreacted to a police car on the other shoulder, his reaction was to overreact with his evasive swerve to avoid hitting him from behind.
There is no reason to slow to rediculous crawl speeds on a bighway for a simple police stop on the other side of the road, simply drop a few mile per hour, make room for others to merge and keep it flowing you pass cars, trucks, guard rails, barriers in construction zones, poles, bridge supports, and god knows just about everything else all day long with much less than the width of a complete lane, at way over the speed limit without having to slow to 30 mph so why when you encounter a situation on the berm should now need to go that slow.
If traffic is that heavy that you can’t move over quickly, then slow down but as stated before keep your car on the road and focus on your lane. I have noticed drivers seem to want to look at what’s going on and somehow get mesmerized by the the lights, this in today’s world has become more prevalent with how bright those lights have become. It’s almost a trap for some and they actually drive toward them. Those who have any real motorcycle riding experiance will probably understand the effects of eye focus to where you end up going better than others. But in short you have a high probability to travel toward what your eyes focus on and just like the rider who looks at the guard rail as he gets closer to it keeps getting closer to it while the other rider that looks to where he wants to go will more than likely clear the guard rail and avoid the accident. Those lights need to be looked at much closer just as much as we need to focus on the roadway our vehickle needs to stay on not the incident on the side of the road.
I honestly can’t count how many times I have seen multiple accidents behind construction zones, minor traffic incidents, and a simple pull over by a cop for speeding caused by Looky Lewis and people who overreact by slowing to rediculously slow speeds as they approach the seen and cause massive panic behind them.
Not letting traffic merge away from those things just like those who merge early then refuse to let others merge in the designated merge area also play a factor in this issue. How many times have you seen someone refuse to make room for the car, truck in the other lane as you approach an incident?Gearjammin' Penguin, gentleroger and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
There is always someone on the shoulder doing something...even with an exit a stones throw away

Why do so many people look to their masters for some magical solution? Half of them are working on the same road since we were born. What makes anyone think that a bureaucracy that is opposed to things like crumb rubber and the latest road technologies in favor of waste, will have our best interests at heart? They can't even reduce traffic.
Would you (as an example) wait at Publix for 2 hrs because they never bothered to hire more cashiers, or go to Kroger and get out in 10 minutes because they are more focused on customer service and reducing wait times?
Would patronize a store that has a parking lot riddled with potholes and some security agent that fines you and doesn't let you leave because you have a slight air leak?
It's time to let the market, which can handle complex things like power generation, aerospace engineering, computer tech, convenience shopping, freight, logistics, ship building, farming, and so on goes a long list, handle the roads instead of people that lived with their parents until their late 40's and never had a real job. I think we'd all be better off for it.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.
