I delivered one in sufflolk that was 9'6' and I needed escort and permit for 3/4 of a mile. ridiculous

That's what I was afraid of, Ive got a load going to NC and got my VA and NC permit, but they said Norfolk and Suffolk city permits could take up to 72 hours!!!!

I would have to look at my blanket again to be certain, but I think 10 or less on divided highways you will not need a escort. Any 2 lane you will need one. And the City of Suffolk western limit is at the Blackwater River bridge on RT 58 near Franklin, VA

In Suffolk county unless they have changed something in the last year any OD load on 58 requires a city permit (72 hour lead time) and a pilot car. and yes for 5 miles and the sheriff is a little prick there
