What was your actual weight NB? Our truck is on a load to DC on that route tomorrow and if my counting is right he'll be just below 78k.

Thanks - makes sense. A scale ticket avoided an even longer side of the road inspection 2 weeks ago thanks to persuading the friendly officer to leave his portable scales in his trunk. That's what he's been doing and I'll send him a reminder to make sure and do it before he gets too far down the road in the morning.

I was more curious about the direction/size of the error. I could see some small variations due to poor or infrequent calibrations, but 10k is a pretty big spread. How common is that big of an error?

You're saying the calibration is off because of the weights you're seeing rolling across scales in the road at highway speeds? Those are never going to be accurate, you can change the weight on those by thousands of lbs just by letting out of the throttle.

    RedForeman Thanks this.

I usually get a weigh ticket for if I am over 42,000 pounds. Even if you are legal on your gross, if the loader doesn't know what he is doing you could be over on your drives or trailer.

    RedForeman and ac120 Thank this.

You could have one of those portable weigh systems installed on your truck, such as Air Weigh. I don't recall what they charge, but it could save you a ticket for being over weight.

Thanks for all the input. That would make total sense on the pre-pass weights as josh.c points out. Just another variable that's good to be prepared for, as we are also using a pre-pass.
