If you sue or wind up in arbitration concerning vacation days the ONLY remedy is money, at least until someone invents a time machine, they cannot give you time. That does not mean your employer is required to give you money if you don't take your vacation. Companies can and do have "use it or lose it". Know before you go.
There is a distinction between company policy, union contract, federal/state regulations. EVERY MF-ing question is asked about one of them and then people battle like desperate armies over every company policy, my union contract back in 1978 etc.
