I'm trying to learn about the OTR lifestyle and a lot of peculiar questions come to mind. I'm really curious as to what you all do for vacations, especially those with families. Surely you would just want to spend time at home and enjoy sitting still for a while, but your family might be eager to go on a road trip, which leaves you in a situation where even on vacation you are behind the wheel, cruising the highway. Anyone have this problem, or do you insist on vacations close to home with minimal driving, or perhaps save up enough money to fly somewhere more distant?

That depends on what the vacation is for. Taking a vacation with the kids might mean renting a RV and hitting the road for two weeks. Taking one with the wife might mean driving to the airport and heading to the Virgin Islands.
Life isn't just about us. It is about those we love. Trucking allows us to make a good living. We have options of planning ahead so we can get the best deals. It will be up to you to figure out what you like for relaxation. I come home and it is Daddy's time to spoil the family.
And I found out today I am going to be a GRANDFATHER finally. My son showed me the ultrasound. It looks like her side of the family. -
I like the Dominican Republic. Good times down there. Vegas is good too. Definitely on an airplane though.

Go through a travel agency for discounts and fly to some relaxing location. This way the family gets a nice vacation and you don't have to drive.
