Well, considering State side pays around .60, you should ask for .75 given exchange rate. Now, if you recall everything in Canada is marked up an extra few percent cause why not, so you should be asking at least .80. Good luck.

Don't think they would go that high but I'm almost sure he's auoring the lowest price possible

Right. Welcome to non-union deregulated trucking. If he could convince a monkey into that drivers' seat at the cost of a banana, he would. So by now you should have clear vision of the standards, and given your 1-year experience, go take that .50 and keep on expanding your experience level. 6 months down apply for better paying positions. Keeping in mind that CPM isn't all that matters, a quality employer nowadays is gold which can save you stress levels unimagined.

Never heard of a company paying 60 cents per mile within Canada for van. Majority pay 50 cents per mile because apparently Canadian rates are terrible. When I ran NS the boss told me he was going to pay 50 CPM. Told him 60 cpm or I'm not leaving the yard. He ended up giving me 60 cpm while paying the others 50 CPM.
Truck driver mentioned 50 CPM to Montreal from GTA = approx 640 miles round trip which is $320. 11-12 hours of driving up and down including traffic, probably a 14 hour book everyday. Rather just do hourly at that point in the city.
I make $22 an hour and the same 14 hours is $308. Would never go back to CPM.skipgears Thanks this. -
