I, for a VERY measly one, would be saddened to see them go. I would not have learned without
groping through the search facility, probably improperly forming my search criteria at first, how
to easily insert an image, obtain a spell check facility, or what I needed to consider as important
gear to bring along when I first went back to OTR (it was quite different than when I ran back in
the early 70's.) I view the docked threads as sort of a set of FAQs that should at least be scanned
before assuming I had some general question that no one had ever thought of before, a level of
hubris I am loathe to aspire to. I don't HAVE to read them, but I appreciate their being there for
perusal at just the click of a mouse. I see what many others have felt was important enough to
discuss at length (sometimes very passionately) and learn things I didn't even know I didn't know
(does that even make sense?). With the ability to go backwards in a thread (BTW, thanks to
whomever implemented that feature), I can start at the initial query / comment and then get to
the most recent posts and see how, if any, the discussion progressed (or digressed) as more
participants chimed in with experiences and valuable opinions / insights. Ignore them if you so
choose, but please don't deprive those of us who find value in their existence.

Just my $.02 from an old man that should probably just shut up.

Not to worry Shadow....I don't see the docked threads going away anytime soon.
There is to much good info in them that needs to be easily found.
One of the things that makes docked threads so important is the fact the the search engine on this site, and any other site I have ever been on isn't all that great.

    BTW....good post Shadow.

Lilbit, Big Don and aiwiron Thank this.

Shadow, thanks for your post. I wan't advocating for the docked threads to go away only inquiring the value others found in them. The reason I asked the question is that as I have been reading through the forums I see newbs that have asked a question and then be berated that they should have read what has already been posted. Like you I mainly now read the beginning and the end. This may mean that I miss seeing something answered in 2009 in a thread started in 2007 and receive a tongue lashing. I am a big boy and can handle it if I ask a stupid question and get some heat over it but the length and age of the docked threads may be a contributing factor in why it happens.

BTW can anyone tell me "What is a good company to start with?" LOL only joking. I did read the entire docked thread dealing with this topic.
