Thanks Mark and Rob for the insight. The confidence I could have had if I was taking advantage of this forum for the shipper/receiver lowdown in my early days... I think VW is spoiling me into a cranky old timer where I don't want to go anywhere new, etc.

I was feeling pretty cranky yesterday anyway. I was up at 0330, delivered, three hour DH further away from Iowa, arrived at noon, tried to take a nap for two hours, failed, got a door at 1630, thought it won't be long so I got on the horn instead of trying to sleep. Got out of there at 2030, so I could drive til 0300 o.0, so I can make it today. Isn't trucking grand?

Oh well. At least I'm not in DC, or at the Minooka Pilot. Yes I was making some interesting circles in DC my first time a few months ago. Trimmed some of their trees for them on the narrow one way streets. Hawk, Minooka isn't bad, compared to many other fine Pilot establishments. I've done a couple 34s there in my Kraft days! That's not too bad, then you get to way up the way to various chain food, or if you're feeling ambitious, walk into town for something.

Hey Mushroom, was that place in Hyattsville, MD by any chance? If it is I'm pretty sure that I've been there.......make sure to fill out an application for your Ghetto Pass while you're there! Did a three stop Cargill Beef load yeaterday up around Minneapolis yesterday which was joyous as usual. The EFS# Leah gave me wasn't going through for the lumper so I had to bobtail around Downtown Hopkins trying to find an ATM @ 0130, FYI the Holiday Station down the street from StupidValu is not 24/7 contrary to what they tell you! I got the final stop off at Sysco up in St. Paul and ended up bouncing down to Sheldon since I was waaaaay over due for a service. Ended up staying at the hotel since everything was covered which was fine so I stuffed myself like a Thanksgiving turkey on Pizza Ranch and watched a bunch of Family Guy so it was a great night! I was walking around HyVee getting groceries this morning and Dale called to see if I wanted to go out West to which my reply was "does a fat dog fart when you kick it"? Picked up a partial at Storm Lake then getting the rest in Madison, NE. Much to my liking Madison is making quick work of me. I really do dread coming here to live load since they never get you out more than 5 minutes before your DDT, but I will take this change of events. On another subject, I really think that the meteorologists in IA & SD need to go back to weatherman school and brush up on their prediction skills. All weekend they were calling for a dusting and no more than 1" of snow yesterday. Welp 5.5" later they were proven wrong! Luckily today is supposed to be around 40 so it'll just turn into a giant mud hole.

That's one thing i hate this time of year that you can't keep your truck clean for #$#@.... My Truck looks like it's about to get deep fried!! Well since we are all sharing our joyful occasions, i had an Upper Marlboro last night from Delhi, that i had to rush like hell to get down to. My 10hr break ended at 1135 in Albany, Pick Up in Delhi and had to be in Upper Marlboro by 2200.. for anyone that knows the trip know its not an easy task..

And Husker, if you think Kroger is bad, Try C & S/Safeway in Upper Marlboro, MD, some guys had been waiting since 1800 to get a door and it was well past 2300... Luckily i only had to wait for an hour and a half.. got a door and 0000 and took them well over 4 1/2 hours, better than the 6 hour performance they put on a couple of months ago for the same product..

Then had to squeeze in Norton, Just arrived up here with only :20 mins on the 11... Usually i don't get up here this Early, i like to Cruise up thru the GW and X Bronx with no problem after 1930/2000, but surprisingly it was a smooth ride, anyhow tomorrow waits, let's see what BS are they going to reward me with tomorrow!!

Tell me about it. I had to have my truck de-iced yesterday before it went into the pit for a service and it was looking pretty dang good sitting in there, but it only lasted until Marcus though. I went to the Beacon in Portland last Tuesday to hose out the trailer and for some dumb reason one of the bobble heads stuck his fat hand out and ran his hand from the nose of the truck to the tail of the trailer. Needless to say the manager was not pleased! Since it was kinda drizzly he had the guys just rinse off my truck really good and then when I went in to sign the charge ticket he gave me a card good for a full service wash, I'm talking the works.....wash, rinse, engine & even Citrus Shine on the polished aluminum.

    Hawk,
is the C&S in Upper Marlboro related to the one in Northeast Maryland? I'm thinking so, what a ###### operation, the last time I was there I ran out of time after 5 hours and limped over to the Flying J across the street. Went to a new place today on Long Island, Lemon-X, they make mixers for booze and what a joy it was finding the place. I think I saw you heading for the GW this evening.

    Be safe

    Awesome Husker!!!

and Larry, i've been to that place Lemon-X a couple of times, the directions are BS!! When you get off that exit from the Long Island Expressway, instead of making that Left onto Jerico Turnpike Route 25, you can keep straight and make a left onto Pulskai Road, then make that right onto Railroad St.. It's a little better going that way then trying to make those two tight right hand turns!!

And yeah you probably did see me heading for the GW, i met a quite of a few of you guys heading south on 78 and 287...

Husker the place I delivered was actually in DC terribole neighborhood, was thrilled to get out of there. Finished up yesterday at Richmond Restaurant Service they charged $145 to unload 4 pallets and took almost 4 hours to do it. Taking a day at home then back to the grind, stay safe everyone.

Not an happy camper, picked up a load in East Hartford, CT going to Richmond, VA sat at an Coca-Cola bottling in for 8 hours to be loaded yesterday, drove all through out the night, stop for a meal and a nap due to an accident in Baltimore with them having 95 shutdown, stop for another nap so i wouldn't arrive to early.... got there at 10 A.M.,

They wanted me to go to Jersey City or Warners, which i didn't have a problem with Jersey City, but then it turns out they had Jersey City covered so it left me with an Warners, didn't really want to do an Warners due to the lack of sleep i've had in the past 24 hours (3 Hours since 6 A.M. Weds Morning) and driving through out the night... So they told me i could pick up a load out of Severn, NC to go out to the Midwest tomorrow to bring back to the yard, with me only being 60 miles away from home, i wanted to go to the house and then go pick up the load out of NC tomorrow but instead they wanted to pay me layover.... only to call me 2 hours later to tell me that i could go home, but now i'm at the Truck Stop SMH, don't want to get a call from Tim now that i've been at the Truck Stop this long and so i have pretty much no other choice but to sit here until 6 A.M. tomorrow morning.

And it's shaping up to be another short weekend, i don't want to come in on Friday Afternoon and go back out on Sunday.. the whole purpose of me going home for a few hours today!! sorry if the rant is hard to read, just really not having one of my better 24 to 36 hours!!
