Trust me, our complaints are no where near as bad as other companies on this forum even tho I think a few be over-reacting on this particular forum (my opinion and i might be one) My problems has always been maintenance related. I'm out of Waynesboro and also Matt. Guard, for the most part we run the same stuff every week. Every now and then they do something to piss us off but it's not on the regular. Maybe once in a month if any. Trust me, you will do fine over here, If i won't interested in Starting own my deal I would be here for years to come. The only problem i got is idling in the summer and I don't think these trucks are meant to be idled with the DPF and stuff

Thanks all. Good to know it's not the company per se. The original start to this thread and all the positives were what made me keep following it. I am starting to put in some apps, and don't know when or if I'll apply, but I do like what VW has to offer it's drivers, and I'm giving them serious consideration.

Wow came across 80 today and couldn't believe how many trucks and cars were still in the ditch and median, must have been one hell of a mess couple days ago. I'm sitting in a door here in Chariton getting unloaded then I'm rolling up to Sheldon to p/u a load going to front royal. Should make it home sometime Christmas day,not exactly what I was hoping for but what can ya do? Safe travels everyone.

80 was a mess, i got stuck in the waterloo pilot in that mess, and finally got out of there friday morning, they still had the "travel not advised" out, but the roads improved enough i could take an easy pace and get to omaha. Had a scary close call near ames where the road was still covered in packed snow & ice , the surface became potholed and rough, causing the truck to dance all over the place, and it was all i could do to hold onto her. Then as i just started to drift over to the left where it was smoother, some idiot hotdogger decides to "hammer down" and squeeze past me leaving only a couple of inches between rigs!
i think someone mustve been praying for me because thankfully there was no contact. Got to omaha, dropped the trailer, and went to schuyler to grab my east bound for cincy and on to salem, va (thankfully not kroger).
Partway back eastbound through iowa, the road had improved some, but it was a wrecking yard. About 10 miles in, i go to split into 8 high, when the splitter itself on the shift lever starts hissing air. It got to the point where i had trouble splitting back & forth through the gears, so i had to get on the phone with leah and doug, and i was told to get into kw in rock island. I started having visions of spending my xmas holed up in a hotel room waiting for parts, and i was PO'D to the point i nearly blew a gasket at leah. I got past the mess in des moines, and shift knob itself came loose, and found i could hold the knob down and it would shift again. Thats when the lite bulb went on inside my thick skull, while i sat in stuck traffic, i was able to lift up the little silver cover on top of the offending knob, and saw the 2 torx screws inside were loose.(pun intended) i grabbed the driver set from beside the seat, tightened them down, and it was like a new transmission again!(DOH!!) I called sheldon, apologized for being an###, and made into my 1st drop. -
A Merry Christmas to all. May 2013 be your year.

Happy trails over the road, guys. I'm a month into pulling crude, and even though my gloves froze and the wind has nothing to stop it when you're on top of a 20' tank sampling the oil, I haven't missed otr for a minute. I even get paid by the hour. I miss quite a few folks at Vw, but the work and the lifestyle change are better for me.
bbechtel16, hawkjr and notezbngrn71 Thank this.
