@Boxorox I wasn't pointing the "stir the pot" comment at you. Van Wyk Trucking is the first business started by Denny & Arlen almost 45 years ago. Link Manufacturing, Maintainer & VTS Brokerage are our sister companies which stand on their own, all of which are legitimate businesses, no tax write offs. Yes the deadhead structure is kinda goofy but with the line haul pay & bonuses they throw your way it all evens out on the end. It will be nice once we can start getting our profit sharing checks again. We haven't had one for two years now, mainly because of people being reckless tearing up equipment & the spike in fuel costs. I was talking to Mike a couple of weeks ago and he said the contract we signed with Pilot is the best fuel discount we have had to date, hopefully this helps us work toward more money to the driver. He also scored rate increases from some of our customers, some of which were quite substantial I guess anywhere from 7% to 18%.

Mushroom,
I had a similar experience last year after dropping in Newport News area, I thought I was coming home, nope sent me to NC for a peanut butter load going to NE. Anyway I got home a few hours ago, just to go out again on Wednesday. Man what a nice day, watch out, there's some bad T storms coming our way.
Hey Rob,
Who were you pointing the "stir the pot" comment at?
Be safe. -
I got a Reynolds load
I thought it would be aluminum foil... Cardboard boxes? Headed to Emporia. Shutdown on the east side of Indy.
-
That Wild Child character that posted a couple of days ago. That Reynolds is actually shrink wrap. Did you luck out with only one stop on that load? Usually they are anywhere from 3 to 6 stops. We get quite a few West Coast runs from there & we have a weekly load to Toronto as well.
-
yall can have those Reynolds loads...the two stops i had last weeks clearly showed me that majority of these places are not easy to get into and you gots to really show your backing skills... after that stop in pawtucket i had last week you guys have one less driver fighting for those loads
-
Hawk,
not going to argue that, my Reynolds load last week had 4 stops, all in Chicago, the first 3 were easy, however that forth stop had me wandering, just getting there was a pain.
BTW how are you adjusting to that KW? -
good..real good.... im still at times concerned about the batteries but ive maintained the 7.1 mpg that the previous driver have had after two weeks of being in my possesion and thats after hauling two 35K loads over PA turnpike.... i wish i could let that seat back a little bit more or push the steering wheel down... but great truck tho, and to think i was going to pass this up lol...

This is a one stopper to Interstate Brands (bakery, yum!) in Emporia. I never realized Kansas was just under two days from the house.
Larry I finally swapped bottom seat cushions yesterday at over 375,000. Wow! I feel like I'm in a different truck! I have to ask you though, if I recall correctly, you said you popped that clip and jimmied the front pivot arm out? And I believe you had problems getting the clips to stay back on? I guess they are single use? Anyway, why didn't you just drop the 4 hex head screws? -
Brian,
I have to admit I chose the easy way since I didn't have any proper tools at the time and I was fed up with my ##### falling throught the seat. -
Either way it was time well spent for both of us!
I moved the turned-too-tight-into-the-pole trailer out of Tyson Emporia this morning up to Keizer in Sioux City today. Now I have a Tyson load going to Carteret, NJ (joy...?) and then to Sygma in Harrisburg.
