Hi to all and just wanted to ask a quick question. I have been assigned my trainer at VW and start monday. I meet Cory at 0900 and then do the company physical can anybody tell me what I am going to be doing for that. I already have my DOT Physical but not really sure what this company physical is all about. Again really looking forward to getting started and learning what I need to. Again to all be safe and keep them rolling.

They just want to make sure you can do some job related tasks, such as get in and out of the truck, trailer, be able to kneel under the trailer if need be, they'll have you lift a weight over your head repetitiously and check your pulse, etc.. No big deal.

Ok thanks, just was wondering. Have a great weekend.

Tiger hawk and 1tidefan,
I've been here almost 4 years now and I started this thread. Good company and good folks, remember this is trucking so opinions vary. I normally run the Northeast with the occasional trip out west, regarding home time well it will be at least a 34 sometimes more. You can stay out as long as you want or the typical 5-6 days, whatever works for you, and their is no forced dispatch. Good luck and welcome aboard.BTW, 1tidefan your from my old stomping grounds the northern neck. -
Thanks Mattaponi Guard for the info. So, hows the pay, starting out and after you have been with the company for a while. The truck does get to go home with you for your re-set right? I am cleared for hire and now am waiting on my trainer, if I am guessing correctly Tigerhawk is with the trainer I will be assigned to now. So, what part of the NNK are you from?
Tigerhawk, so fill me in, how things going with the training? -
For you new guys, it depends where you all want to run.. If you run Midwest you'll probably be gone a little bit longer compared to running the Northeast. Running the Northeast you're almost guaranteed to be home on weekends. Depending on when you get home you might leave out on a Sunday morning or so but majority of the times I got at least 48 hours off.
Unless they changed it, I thought the pay was 21.5% starting off?? tops out at 24.5%... you also get a .4 mile bonus every 2 weeks as long as your overspeed and idle is under control. Idle in the summer months is 35%, Idle in the winter is 10& (Trucks have bunk heaters) -
1Tidefan, Warsaw with family living in the Callao area and in Tappahannock even though that is not "the neck". Hawk is right on the percentage and bonus. These will vary but on average : 600.00 to 800.00 plus 175.00 for the bonus which is every two weeks.

Is that take home or net? How about taking the truck home? She said I would "probably" be able to. Do the trucks have inverters installed for microwave and tv? Do the Midwest runs pay any better than the northeast ones?
So Mattaponi Guard, did you grow up and go to school around here? I currently work in Tappahannock, be there for the past 6 years.

Hey tiger hawk, I take it from your recent post and my conversations with Jeanne in recruiting that you are currently with the trainer that I will be assigned to once you are released. So, any word on how things are going? Any advice or suggestions on how I can prepare?

I would hope that $800. Is take home pay. I can't see anybody living in a truck all week for $ 800 gross.
