I think the habit is worse than the addiction. You can quit cold turkey and your skin will crawl for a week or two, but it's the habit that is hard to beat. Just putting something in your mouth helps a lot.

Ever notice the old long term cigar smokers? They tend to be subconsciously puffing on something even when they don't have a cigar in their mouth. Like someone mawing with no teeth.

Nicotine has different effects on different people. I've smoked a pack a day for 40 years, and once quit for 5 years. After starting again (on a night out drinking with the guys) I immediately noticed a loss of energy and the wife said I started snoring much louder at night. So while it may be a stimulant for some, it definitely is a relaxant as well. Your heart rate increases when you ingest nicotine, but your blood vessels constrict, and it decreases blood flow to your extremities (yes all of them) making you feel relaxed or lethargic.

While highly addictive, nicotine by itself doesn't cause cancer or any other diseases other than addiction. So it is without a doubt better for you delivered through a vape pen than a cigarette. I'm getting to the point where I want to quit again (cold turkey) so I can increase my energy level. Getting old sucks.

I quit smoking after 20 years, with the help of vaping. Nothing else worked for me. I tried everything except Chantix. I now vape regularly. I would say it is a better alternative to tobacco, but I would never tell someone to start up a vaping habit. It's a means to an end for some...thats all.

    Adieu and Skytz33 Thank this.

Amphetamines are illegal, and I love 49CFR with my entire being. I would never consider violating any part of the Code! But, I hear you can find incredible kicks after ingesting 1/2 of a propylhexadrine inhaler. I've seen people totally roll on those, apparently it's the strongest dose of OTC stimulant available for $6.75 at Walgreens. But that was back in the day. I"m sure those people are all dead now, from such experiments in psychiatry.

You need to start chewing again and drinking monsters and pop some pseudoephedrine once in a while if you really need it.

Vaping is fine but you have to do your research on what you buy. Some of the crap you can buy is definitely harmful. I smoked for 25 years and been vaping almost 5 now. I do all of my own builds and make my own juice so I know exactly whats in there. I wouldn't touch anything from a truck stop, convenience store or any store that isn't exclusively a vape shop. I checked with my dr. before I went the vaping route. Its actually safer than the patches etc.

I know there's been no real scientific peer reviewed studies yet about vaping but inhaling propylene glycol (the stuff used to run fog machines) and vegetable glycerine can't be good. Why not just knuckle down and quit? I've done it several times over my life and always used the patch with great success.
