I wouldn't work for a company that has a dash cam, there's really no reason for it besides harassing the driver for petty things.

On another note, the dash cams are part of the tattle tale culture created by corporate america. I recently had the great experience *roll eyes* of the e-log system who many say have hidden dash cameras inside them. I don't know if that is true but the e-log is nothing but a nuisance that doubles as a clock and a prosecutor, some companies (I worked for two that had them) like to send annoying and irrelevant messages that 'beep' until you hit the read button. I can't stand e-logs! dash cams are even worse.

Paper logs when doctored (as we are all forced to) can only get a driver past a DOT inspector but if there is a death involved in a accident (whether or not it is the truckers fault) he will go to jail for vehicular homicide if there is any proof your logs are false. Being one minute over your 11 will probably get you 15 years in prison if they can prove it. And the whole idea of e-logs and dash cams is to make an easy conviction, where the prisons can continue to increase their profits.

The authorities will go through all those electronic gadgets in our truck including the engine computer. The Feds have jail cells ready for us, believe me. There is big money in prisoners in this God forsaken nation, so the dash cams, e-logs, cell phones, etc..are there to make an easy conviction for the prosecutor, and when you're entering your animal cage they'll just tell you it was your fault because you are responsible for your hours not your company who lied and pressured you into taking that load.

Are the trailers more jacked than the Schneider ones I see getting dragged around the northeast? Those look like they have rolled down a cliff!

4-month update. Still with Venezia. Gross earnings are right at $14k for $42k per year. Hauling oil is quite a different animal than chemicals. Every load is a pump off, usually hauling multiple products, lots 200-300 mile loads. We have 2types of runs, those that can't be done legal, and those that have way too much time factored in. After complaining enough I am getting something that resemblrs weekends off.

As previously posted our trailers are shabby and filthy. The tractors are these crap Petes that are built for midgets absolutely hate it. The work is filthy - its oil and it gets everywhere. Some of the facilities we load at are great- load ya and get you out without a lot of fanfare. Other places are ignorant and go out of their way to slow ya down.

Consignees are generally pretty good with the exception of one that has Virginia and DC metro locations.

I am thinking I Will really hate this job during the winter. You are basically outside during the loading and unloading. Now I got to find a coat I am willing to trash with oil. Venezia will hardly give you a ballcap, so don't expect anyhelp with work clothes, boots, and gloves.

So if you like a claustrophobic tractor, dirty work, and short runs - then this is your ideal job. Also there are way too many hours on Line 1 & 2 to justify being away from home 5/6 nights a week.

Any drivers I have spoken too are generaly unhappy. Customers thank you for being on time, indicating it may be an unusual occurance.

Its too late in the year to start another job. 9 january I'll be gone. May get out of tanker work completely, too much wasted time.
