I don't think the guys doing the actual washing make all that much. It can be real hard work requiring that they get inside the tanks to clean some stuff. If the product before cleaning was hot it can be 200 degrees in there and they are insulated and don't cool off very fast. Most of the time we drop the dirty one and pick up a cleaned one. Just check all the caps, valves and that its clean dry and odor free.

At Venezia does the driver pump the load off or does the customer do it ??
I think I read somewhere on this site a while back that a lot of places don't want drivers doing the unloading anymore for liability reasons ??
I talked with Venezia a few months ago I specifically asked for long haul they made it sound like they wanted me to run around the NE with an occasional long haul load so I told them "no thanks"...
I may live in the NE but that doesn't mean I want to be here that much.... -
Venzia always been good to the drivers , If I lived more easterly I would be working for them , I live off 80 in Illinois and see them ocasionally going to the terminals around chicago getting a back haul or delivering . used to run in to them all the time at Mckees rocks Pa, and neville Island .
ground pounder , with pumping it varies , mst of the big companies have there own pumps and hoses , because of the liability and union rules , but alot of little places don't ,and some don't even have buk tanks . I hated drumming off 7000 gallons of motor oil into 5 gallon drums .groundpounder Thanks this. -
They specifcally mentioned IL when I asked where the long haul loads went along with FL, TX, and I thought he (operations) said LA maybe Baton Rouge was the LA load....
I ran TX from here in NY for about 8 years and did see them on that I-10/12 corridor quite a bit both company trucks and O/O's..Actually just about all the big tanker companies are on the I-10/12 corridor !! -
I have been talking to there Senior drivers and it seems that they have recently gotten into the Liquid game. When I say recently in the last 10 years or so. So they are still building there customer base. I ran mostly the South East, last week. Even got a load going to Florida but got held up in Virgina so that load got canceled.
Before they got into the liquid buisness they were doing mostly dry bulk and Vans.groundpounder Thanks this. -
I may give them a call back Monday and see what they say.. -
They will keep you in a 400 mile radius until you prove you are worth your salt. After my 3rd week the farthest I have been is North Carolina. I am expecting to start rolling this week though. I have never pulled anything but a tank except for 6 months with Con-Way right out of truck driving school. Talked to a driver yesterday that lives uo in Buffalo. He was headed to Kanas City. We will see what happens this week. I have a load going to W. Boyleston Mass on Monday. I am hoping to get a longer run this week. If not it is time to start speaking up.
