They boast a MPG increase of 1-3% in tractor only applications . I'm wondering if anyone is measuring the actual savings in TRACTOR ONLY . Is it worth the investment ? Do you see any additional true benefits they also boast such as - Resuced Spray , duability , etc ?

What brand are you using , cause there are several out there now ?

Not many have driven the tractor only comparing regular mudflaps to vented mudflaps :biggrin_2559:

It pays more to haul freight.

if you want to save fuel buy the mud flaps that really flap not the stiff ones. i think the fuel you would save would be about the same as hanging your arm out the window when you drive. all the drivers did that b/4 they had a/c in trucks be safe out there

1-3%? They are so close behind the tires I don't think it would make that much of a difference.

See them on lots of Gemini/Loves trucks. Don't believe for a minute they give that large an increase in mileage. Their drivers just think they are cheaper and that's why they are put on as needed. They are much lighter then a really thick flap.

You don't want them, states like Arizona will write you a ticket for a "sailing" mud flap. I think a 1-3% increase in fuel economy is a far stretch.

I thought so also that's why I was asking cause the company ECO Flap I think is its name is one that boast like 1% I think at 7.0 mpg that's 0.07 almost a 1/10th .

That was the basis of my question is the theory real or hype ?

What I would like to see is these miracle fuel saving mud flaps in a wind tunnel test. I can only imagine the wind will go thru them and swirl in hundreds of places, creating drag, which decreases efficiency.
