And the great telecom throttling wars of 2017 have begun. Back in July, Verizon customers noticed that the quality of video streams was being manipulated. Verizon insisted that it was just running a test. Then the company got trounced by T-Mobile (which already throttles video on mobile) in an overall speed test, and now, all bets are off. Verizon will officially begin limiting the quality of video on its unlimited plans on August 23rd.

Verizon Will Totally Start Throttling Customers' Video This Week

That is why I haven't switched to "unlimited". After 22gb of data use they Will throttle you... I have 24 GB with carry over so I usually have about 30gb every month. Not throttled... Love the service, hate the company much like everything else... It's a shame really...

It's in the fine print of the various unlimited data contracts, when they can/will downgrade but a lot of it hinges on the "equal acces" part and "possibly during peak periods in a given market"

Some say you can stream video at 3G but I contend you probably can't typically pull anything better than 512 or maybe 768 video sizes which to me just isn't worthwhile except on a smartphone or tablet.

They do throttle in certain areas I use about 100gb a month lol but all depends on what area in which speeds I get but still better than the 30gb I had before since I don't have to worry about going over

I and my son both have unlimited. neither one if us have experienced data throttle and we both use in excess of 100 gigs a month.

They [probably] won't unless you're over your allotment and you're in a market that is experiencing high data demand.

Have you actually measured your speed at various times?

We do measure here and there , but only out of curiosity. Verizon stated when we signed up that data would be throttled after 22 or 24 gigs , neither of us noticed any slowdowns so we decided to measure speed periodically. I have had some slow downs in metro areas but nothing that impacted my videos.
