Are you sure purchasing the one that plugs into the PCI express port will make it faster? My friend just purchased an air card and they didn't use that line to try and sell her the other. They did try to sell her the other though.
Best Buy didn't have the latest Samsung Q1 I'm interested in, and the one they did have they didn't know much about.
Did ya find your service yet? You can get both cell & phone to help out when you really need it. It seems you'd need a cell phone more than internet when driving. Just hook your cell phone up to the laptop with an adapter & it is less spendy. Not sure on all plans with usage etc...
I'm confused. I keep hearing how Verizon is charging $80 m. if you don't have cell service with them. I talked with them and they didn't mention it. They said there service was $60, not with an if, & didn't mention $80 at all. I could be just getting a nibble at the bait yet.![]()

That's too bad for the rest of them. If I were them I'd change my contract and get it set for $60. You know if they do though, they'd have to sign up for a two year contract or something. Just for fun, I think I'll call and ask. Then we can get Lucky on here to give em a lashing! Maybe they should ban together and get Lucky to write a letter for them & send it on their behalf - Heck! On all our behalves!
I'm tired of the contract crap. We were with our local ISP since 97 no problems. The giant TMobile though same thing, since 97 but renew contracts all the time. It's our fault for taking the "free phone" deals. We also screwed up our minutes plan, in a sense, cause we were using the cheapest & low minutes that isn't offered any longer & changed it. What we should have done was kept the old & purchased a seperate plan. -
On the wireless plan just ask them do you like making $60 off of me or nothing and if the person on the phone you call can't do nothing ask for the supervisor. Either way if you have to get a new plan with the company you're with now to get it down to $60 what do you have to lose? Nothing. If they make you mad move to another company and ask them what kind of deals you have for a new customer moving from one company to yours/ You may be surprised in the long run you may even save a few buck by changing. -
You can pick up a card on Ebay and just do an ESN Swap. Just make sure the ESN is clear on the car i.e not stolen or bills owing on old account . If the ESN is not clear Verizon will not activate it

Well.....it's been almost 2 months.... Got the Verizon U-720....Great speed!! AS LONG AS YOU ARE ONLY SURFING.... In most areas where I tried using it with my Slingbox it would work great for about 30-45 seconds.....most times above 500kbps.....then it would just shut down. Like the bandwidth had been cut to ZERO.....I called customer NON-service....a few times...only to get so mad I wanted to kill someone. Finally, one guy had the guts to tell me the truth.....they do not support high bandwidth applications such as streaming/gaming.....FINALLY the truth. When I complained that I had not even come close to my 5 gig monthly limit, he said it didn't matter. Verizon does not support these activities, is what he replied. Now, on the other hand, in areas like the Northeast.....you can stream all day.....because customers in that area of the country won't use them if not allowed to do so.....but......areas like Tennessee.....and the rest of the south(where I tried it) no such luck....
Solution.....got a Sprint 595U.....Not as good on the speed side.....but...I can at least use the Slingbox. And, most of the time the speed is acceptable....not to mention I have my Verizon phone hacked to where I can use it after 9 as a modem......LOL....so if I'm on the East coast...I can still catch most of my Prime Time and Weekend programming @ high speeds... -
So, the Slingbox WONT work with Verizon or it doesn't work with the U-720?

Problem is Verizon's terms of Service prohibit streaming . So They do not support it and do thier best to screw it up. If you are going to Stream Use Sprint or Alltel's service. Make sure you get a Rev. A device for best results

Now, this morning I am in Wytheville, VA. Service is not working here. I called Verizon's customer service, they answered my call in minutes and worked hard to get me up and running. She was polite and made me feel I made the right choice with Verizon....even though it is not working right now. I am on T/A's stuff at the moment. -
I am a Verizon customer as well for Data and cellular. I Could not be happier with them . My business is coverage and reception and overall theirs is the best . I do not stream video or do massive downloading or uploading so the 5 gig monthly limit is not an issue for me.
