W990 is an ugly crap pile. Can’t believe KW is getting rid of the W9, especially with the recent election and announcement of getting rid of the emissions BS that autopen weekend at Bernie’s was going to implement.

 

Robots build the wide cabs. I reckon they’re cheaper help and never call in sick compared to their human counterparts.

 

People pay the sick pay and vacation pay in the sticker price.

 

Just saw a new 589 today for the first time. Definitely better looking than anything KW is doing.

 

So glad I got my W9. I tried to like the 990, but it’s like girl you slept with while you had the vodka glasses on.

 

Time for a protest outside of Kenworth

 

Call Edison Motors they plan on building heavy duty trucks without the fantastic plastic. They can meet emissions using Scania engines as a generator to power electric drive axles. They are building their first 10 trucks today by hand. Built by a trucker for truckers. they are building them for easy self repair and to last 20+ years.

 

I don't know how heavy the other ones are, but I called on a W900 tri-axle dump truck.

The guy told me it weighed 33,000 lb.

In Pennsylvania that means it pulls 19 or 20 tons, which a heavy 10-wheeler in Pennsylvania can pull 18 or 19, a nice tri axle can pull anywhere from 23 to 25.

I don't know what the hell makes that truck heavy like that but that's way too heavy for working unless you're working by the hour.
