I didn't think of the training part which might pose a problem.Trainers aren't allowed to bring dogs because some trainnees are highly allergic to pet hair or don't like the smell of pets.Me on the other hand I would welcome the op and his dog while training him.

I don't see what the issue is, many of you seem to think these service animals run amok everywhere but they seemed to be the best behaved ones around, sure beats a lot of the truckers themselves.DoneYourWay Thanks this. -
I wouldn't think the dog would run amuk,I love animals but not everyone feels the same way and companies can't brake rules for a certain few.Do you know of any trainers that can have their pet while training?
-
I bet it is not the dog that is the problem . I bet it is the reason you need a dog that is the real problem. Just my 2 cents not judging .
"Hang - Man" and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
My mentor that taught me to drive has a service dog. Personally I'd try and find a trainer that is ok with it then go to whatever company he or she is with. Hopefully someone will be willing to help you out.
driverSD Thanks this. -
The FMCSA rules?
The company rules?
I bet they have a policy that addresses this issue and would allow it to happen in their office.
I mean if this is a problem for the company or a trainer, then they have to deal with it like other things. It can't be something they can say no to.
I know of a few would not just allow the dog but accommodate the person any which way they can. I'm one who would allow a dog on one of my trucks so to me it isn't a big deal to do but it is if there is a rather obtuse reason to say no. -
I was pulled off my trainers truck at prime because he had a dog. Now keep in mind this was several years ago and things may have changed but that was my experience.
