Also keep in mind if you train throa company you will not have options.

 

Millis transfer is a good school and company to start off with. After training you can be at home in the weekends unless you just want to stay out.

 

Nah haven't heard anything bad about then either. Just trying to help you avoid the mega companies that train also.

 

First year is after all training and then the first 12 months solo in your assigned truck you should make well over $55K as long as you don't lease the truck. Be a company driver and the company pays for everything concerning the truck, including fuel. You just buy your meals.
With an APU you can cook in the truck if you want and have a refrigerator. Trucking companies, states, cities have idle policies on trucks. With an APU there's no worry about that because you shut off the truck engine and crank up the APU and then you have full electrical power for computer, refrigerator, tv, heat, air conditioning, etc.

 

I agree totally with Chinatown about the merits of an APU. I hadn't ever used one until I came to work here at Britton Transport. I am very sold on APU,s and would not ever want to drive a truck without one again. So much so, that it would be a definite determining factor if I were job hunting. My company is a great place to work, and is very military friendly. The founder was military. We are a really small company, and have a finishing program. But not a school. You'd have to get CDL through an accredited school and then come here for finishing training. I'd recommend that approach if you can figure out a way to. Even if you don't consider coming here. Opens up so many more options, without a lot of contractual obligations of company schools. And many companies have tuition reimbursement, so school eventually becomes "free" through them as well.
