Vias?

    i worked for such companies as well. if i had to go out of route, i had to call first and tell them why. it was usually always ok'd by dispatch. but other companies i had worked for, had specific fuel stops i had to fuel at. THAT was a PITA, as i like routing myself at all times.....but YOU DO as your company dictates.

    With our company (Xpo) a via is a stop at a smaller usually unmanned ( or dark) terminal between the home terminal and the destination terminal. This way the drivers can pick up and drop off freight for the smaller terminal without that terminal having to run a driver.

    Vias are stops along the way to your ultimate destination.

    Example: if you're going from Kansas City to Indianapolis via St. Louis, you will stop in St. Louis before you continue on to Indianapolis.
