Did anyone mention to check the DRIVE SHAFT ? The slip part of the drivshaft will cause a vibration when it wears out like HE describes. And it's so easy to check, where the shaft meets grab it and push it up for play or if it's loose. and since your there , check the u joints the same way.

    shriner75 and heavyhaulerss Thank this.

Is this something that just started or has it been going on for a while?

If it is in the steering wheel then it should be something in the front end. Dont forget to check your shocks. Unbolt one end and see how easy it is to move it up and down. It should have resistance both ways.

Does it make a differance if you are loaded or empty? I just had a bad vib at 50 - 55 but it was much worse when loaded. Ended up being a bad wheel bearing.

Check your Centramatics to make sure the fluid in them has not leaked out, apparently this happens from time to time and can cause really bad out of wheel balance.

    heavyhaulerss Thanks this.

thanks for all the help. got truck back. the vibration is gone. it was the u joint right behind the trans. $150.00 & done. fixing is not too much of a problem for me. it's the diagnosis that gets me. I will tell you one thing. if it were not for my older truck & this board, I may not know how to fix anything on it. thanks again for putting your brains to work to help me.

yeah the tires look great & the whole truck vibrated, but I felt it most at the wheel. I think the vibration was just traveling to all parts of the truck, so it was a lil difficult for me to determine where it originated from. I felt in in the wheel, saw it in my mirrors, while they were shaking so everything was a blur, the mechanic, felt it under his feet on the floor board, my wife felt it under her seat. it was not that bad to find for the shop that fixed it. he had it the first guess. I was afraid that some one would throw parts at it until prob solved, & that gets real expensive. been there done that.
