You could of saved on the labor, pretty simple fix, even though it would of been my kind of repair shop that they found it on the first try. BTW, who does your lubing, cause they should of told you it was going out. That is why I do ALL my maintence, I look for FUTURE troubles, including raising the front axle and checking for king pin and wheel bearing play.

I do my own greasing, service e.t.c. :biggrin_25524: the reason why I was not sure was the vibration on the steering wheel. I thought for sure if was the front shocks, being original & 15 years old. I needed to replace anyway, but that was not problem, usually I would get down & dirty to find, but the last 3 weeks I've been going balls to the walls on loads. triple what I have been doing the last several months. just needed diagnosed quick & fixed quick. it is a local shop, where I know the whole bunch. they are my neighbors. they dont have any tech stuff to hook up to any engine with comp, but with other stuff they are good. by the time it would of took me to drive the 20 miles 1 way to the nearest truck parts store & back & changed out part, after first laying on the ground trying to find the prob, instead, I drove 3 miles dropped truck off & in an hour it was done.

DID YOU GET IT FIXED? I had a 2000 model FRGHT day cab, I bought the truck used and driving it home it vibrated terrible; dash , steering wheel, shifter, mirrors....ect. After inspecting , Ifound the drive shaft had been removed and then not installed in line. I fixed that but the vibration was still there. After checking numerous items the problem turned out to be the tranny yoke and the yoke going into the first rearend. The wear in the yokes was letting the ujoints move out of line which would create serious vibration.
