Thanks for the help.
Fresh in the game, left my old job to start a career in the trucking industry with no prior knowledge to trucking ... I'm making sure I don't #### things up or get ####ed.
I'm asking because I need to know how serious this #### is. It's my life and those around me that it ultimately effects.
I could give a #### about a mud flap but at the end of the day if this place is forging documents for me, and all the other mentioned items I need to learn how to protect myself so I am 100% behind that wheel.
Anyone can turn a wheel and press a pedal. -
The most basic basis of contract law is that: Something must be given. Something must be received. The contract is only a piece of paper with an agreement on it. Without the given and received. The paper means nothing.
Toomanybikes and x1Heavy Thank this. -
If you are driving, you are the captian of the ship. YOU are held responsible for everything wrong if it happens. Unless proven specifically unpreventable which is really rare in this industry. I know of one, my number one got hammered in rear via a drunk driver in san antone with Dowdy (It would have been me if I did not fuel a few minutes there... our times of travel was very close together...) my number one saved that drunk's life from a full decap center hit by moving to the side. He was not held responsible. I was more than happy to sit and be communicator on satcom that became very active that hour.
That is why I told you to cut bait and run, you already display some things some trainees or newbies do not do. Ive been thinking about this most of the day, I think to say to find a lawyer perhaps. Lawyers are rather icky, but they have very sharp instincts and if there is something to that pot at the end of rainbow in your case they might go after something and get it. -
That's the wrong thing to do.With you not leaving the company you're as guilty as your boss and trainer is for letting it happenNavigatorWife, divine4u2C, KillingTime and 1 other person Thank this.

They used to give a CDL out to any warm body that passed the test, or a least faked it well enough. A couple of years ago they the feds (under Obama) forced the states that were handing out CDLs to illegals to prove citizenship or surrender the CDL.
Listen, Just stand your ground on things. Write up your own log book, fix your own mudflap or don't move the truck. Make them fire you.
I don't have a clue what kind of contract you signed with them, but I sure would like you divulge the details. No one can hold you to a contract to do something immigrant.Last edited: Sep 14, 2017

Which is why I say cut bait and leave. Walk. Before something does happen.
I don't mind a few weeks rationing soup walking away rather than being prosecuted after being fired via DAC etc. and being unhireable. Ive been there. Parts of my life are lost years due to restarting with nothing. I know how to do that and I am doing that again. But we are ok, nothing bad.
But you write documents and so on, how many more pages do you need before something does happen? Let's say you kept the papers in the truck and there was a proper wreck involving death or serious injury. Everything at that moment absolutely is frozen while accident investigators and the Law goes over EVERYTHING INSIDE THAT TRACTOR AND THEN YOU.
Imagine if they got a hold of that incriminating and then tell you why didnt you leave? You would in some ways be signing and writing yourself into jail....pattyj Thanks this. -
Plus if the op does decide to try and sue no lawyer will take him if he allows it to happen.x1Heavy Thanks this.

Thank you all for chiming in, Heavy and Patty for sure.
All of those things have been in my mind. I have been documenting everything and will continue to do so while secretly seeking legal advice. I absolutely do not want to be held responsible for anything ever, let alone be put in the position.
I am seeking a new employer and will go from there. For the most part everyone chiming in pretty much clarified things that I needed to clarify. I would like to find some laws pertaining the training process... how is it legal for a non driver to train CDL even if he was a previous driver. Which he did touch the wheel to "assist" me in parking a few times as well as move the truck when I went to the restroom without my knowledge...
So many things that took place, The more I think about it the more it worries me. I absolutely will stick to my guns, tell them NO and seek legal help. I will continue writing my documentation on said events, and take it from there.
A bit of icing on the cake also, I did basically a 1400 mile run, 700 miles each way. After doing so, 11 hours one way, 3.75hrs of sleep and 12hrs back ... I needed another rest period and was expected to do another identical load the second my reset was completed lol. Needles to say I did not do the second load.NavigatorWife, pattyj, divine4u2C and 1 other person Thank this. -
Agreed with this.
Pleading ignorance of the law, should you get busted, doesn't get one off the hook.divine4u2C Thanks this. -
