"Unauthorized passengers" are prohibited. That doesn't apply to him, though, as he is an employee of the motor carrier (and therefore has authorization to ride). What is more likely the case, is that he overstayed his welcome here in this country thereby changing his legal status to that of an illegal alien. He hides in the sleeper so that he doesn't get seen/found/deported. My only advise to you would be to play dumb if that ever happens. Don't lie to an officer. If asked if there is anyone in the truck with you, say "yes, my trainer is in the bunk". You are unaware of his legal status, and assumed he had all the proper credentials because your employer has him on the payroll...wasn't your place as a new hire to question. Cooperate as much as possible without incriminating yourself, always playing it off as though you didn't know he was in the country illegally. Keep yourself out of trouble first and foremost. You are licensed to drive the truck, so even if the authorities remove him, you'll be OK.

I honestly hope you transition out to another place. Maybe the grass will be greener...and I mean that in the most positive way.
Good luck. -
@Pedigreed Bulldog ...I could not have said it better. Awesome response.

I can't imagine these school to work contracts would hold up in court if you got fired for refusing to break the law.
