In August of 2013 I've been seeing ads on tv from Virgin Mobile for non-contracted, I-Phone 5, LTE, unlimited text and data. I don't know anything about who they buy service from (Sprint I imagine) but for some people this may be worth looking into if you can afford the upfront equipment purchase. But iphones are special for those who enjoy being able to get all the latest and greatest apps.

But I suspect the data throughput is probably severely monitored and regulated and systematically throttled back for heavy data users. Just though I'd mention this.

You can buy the Virgin Mobile phones at Best Buy. Walmart may also have them. I don't think the phones are that expensive.

Also, you may want to check this out:

I've got a Virgin Mobile WiFi for internet access. It works great and I have had coverage almost everywhere I've shut down for the night. I use it even when I'm getting loaded at a shipper. $50 a month. 3G. Not bad. Then I use it when I get home as well. For a small fee I can upgrade to 4G, but 3G seems pretty fast enough.
